You've got some of this wrong. Dennis did not walk into the ocean and drown, It's very well known that he was diving off his yacht (which was for sale), retrieving things when he drowned. He also got kicked out of the Beach Boys in the spring of 1983--I know, as I was there and personally witnessed his drunken tantrum onstage that day, which got him fired. He drowned six months later.

I can't believe they messed up on that fact. It was reported everywhere Dennis dove in to retrieve the items and drowned. There is no excuse for that error.

I was a rock/music photographer in the 70’s; at a BB show in Eugene, OR….Dennis had to “save” his brother Brian on stage: Brian literally froze up…almost catatonic, couldn’t play. Dennis got off his drum kit, put his arms around his brother, grabbed the microphone, and started singing…. “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s my Brother”. Everyone was in stunned silence…at the Humanity, and the disintegration of Brian; this was just the beginning…for DECADES, before he got it together again.
@Slinkygal

Oh my, that is so heart warming about Dennis singing He ain't heavy, he's my brother with his arm around Brian. I love that song. I love Dennis as well as his brothers too. I wonder if there is a recording or video of this moment? This video doesn't' show Dennis' good qualities enough & instead twists a lot of facts to try to make Dennis look bad.

There were 6 victims at 10050 Cielo Drive. Sharon Tate, her unborn child, Jay Sebring (famous hairstylist), Wojciech Frykowski (friend of Tate's husband, film director, Roman Polanski) Abigail Folger (heiress to the coffee fortune) and Steven Parent (who was visiting groundskeeper, William Garretson. Garretson was not harmed but arrested the following morning as the prime suspect).

if only Roman was home alone that night?, would of saved that 13 year old girl?, up there on Mulholland drive, from SA.
@aisforapple2494
@aisforapple2494 Ай бұрын
@edwardcatton1047 Probably so. And Roman wouldn't have had to go to Europe to escape extradition. Still one of my favorite 'Family Guy' scenes.... Stewie had the neighborhood bully bound and gagged in the basement, and Lois asked, "What are you doing?!", Stewie replied, "We're playing house". Lois asked, "Then why is he tied up?!" and Stewie replied, "It's Roman Polanski's house."
@chrisfreeman9960
@chrisfreeman9960 23 күн бұрын
@@edwardcatton1047Just to let you know a piece of history. You're saying that if Polanski had been home that night, he would have been murdered, along with all the others, which would have "saved" the 13 year old girl. Her name is Samantha Geimer, and she authorized a book about herself, "The Girl", wherein she makes it very clear that the media circus surrounding Polanski 's affair with her, and the resulting invasion of her privacy, as well as the family she eventually started, cost her far more aggravation and upset than anything relating to Polanski 's time with her. Charles Manson and his cult followers who murdered nine months pregnant Sharon Tate, and her baby (and Polanski 's child), is a story familiar to many people. But did you know that, decades earlier, Polanski and his Jewish family were living in Poland, and were imprisoned in a ghetto after Nazi Germany invaded the country? His mother was arrested and perished in Auschwitz, when she was six months pregnant. So there are two children relating to Polanski, that he never knew. Did you know about this other earlier example relating to Polanski? Likely not. Most people don't know it. I just thought I'd mention it...

I always felt sorry for those policemen, whoever they were, who responded to the call on Cielo Dr. that morning. They thought it was just a routine call, and then discovered the horrible nightmare. I hope they were able to deal with it adequately over the years. I also felt sorry for William Garretson, who was asleep and had no idea what had transpired the night before. From what I understand, he was awakened by the police, and then shown all the bodies, including his friend, 0:02 considered the main suspect, and then arrested. What a nightmare. I don't know how soon afterwards he was released, and not considered a suspect. I hope he was able to come to terms with such a shock, and get help in recovery from it.

Wait, Manson did know that Melcher didnt live there anymore. He actually stopped by the house and knocked on the door one day looking for Melcher. The person opening the door (not Tate) informed him that Melcher no longer lived there. Some have stated that Manson saw Tate.

Dennis Wilson was THE greatest rock legend who's no longer among us. He passed a yr & a ½ before I was born but he inspired me to be a drummer. He was highly underrated. Just as good if not better than Ringo. He also WAS the Sunflower album, he made that l.p the masterpiece that it's. I knew a guy named Craig who hung out w/ Dennis & Ed in his last years. Dennis was a true inspiration. 40 years after his passing - rest in Valhalla brother! 🇺🇲🙏🏻🎼

Dennis had been kicked out a few times during that early 80s stretch. They would let him back in if he promised to clean up, but he'd go back to his ways, walked out of numerous rehabs, including just before he died. They (through their manager) tried getting him to clean up by promising to pay his debts Dennis even sold his share in the BB corporation) and get the Harmony back. Nothing worked. When you look at his compositions from Sunflower through Bambu, it's was such a loss. Another "what could have been?"

The Beach Boy was a multi-talented artist with a complicated personal life. His dark side was part of who he was, and perhaps should just be seen as part of a life filled with ups and downs. It is important to weigh his talent against his personality.

My appologies but i forgot somthing (chemo memory loss) i know a gal who was at spahn ranch (i wont divulge her name for her privacies sake) when she told me i said"HOLY S_ _ T YOU WERE ACTUALLY THERE !!!! " & she simply nodded yes. I dont know if she was there before during or after that hideous nightmare but i do know she had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with it ! she was only there in passing needing a place to stay temporarily & did not become one of the monsters subjucated girls nor do i know if she ever even saw or spoke with him - i was to stunned to do anything but listen ... she later on got straightened out & went to universty & may have even got a p.h.d. (again sorry bad memory) & did teach at a major university . So if anything good can be said of that horrific time its that one girl survived & ultimately contributed to the benefit of society... thank you , Kevin James Windsor

You should have mentioned that Dennis wrote/composed You Are So Beautiful, which Joe Cocker made into a hit. Like Rita Coolidge and Layla, Dennis never got a penny from it. Also, on the day he died, Dennis dove off the boat, retrieving his personal belongings as the boat was being auctioned off; even the Beach Boy TV miniseries correctly depicted his death. . You also forgot that in recent years, however, Dennis's solo work and contributions to the Beach Boys have been reexamined positively. His Pacific Ocean Blue album is now considered his masterpiece, but it was shoved aside in favor of the BB as an oldies band.

Manson release from prison in Washington state was more than a little suspicious. He was paroled, in spite of Manson pleading to NOT be released, to San Francisco, specifically the Haight-Ashbury. I guess the government thugs wanted to see how a thoroughgoing sociopath would react to a culture that was despised by the status-quo. He didn't stay long in SF and we know the rest of that ugly story. His release was certainly done with malicious intent and government funds, but he was nothing more than a psycho-patsy.

Dude, Brian had so many issues. He was barely alive himself as Dennis slipped away. No one expected Brian to live past the end of the 70s,. By the time the band brought in Landy the second time to get Brian better, he was clearly ready to be the next R&R casualty. The band tried to help Dennis by the more common method of getting him into rehab. They would promise him help with his finances, even getting the Harmony back. He kept leaving rehabs and getting worse.

He stole music from Charles Manson. Manson was a wonderful singer and songwriter. If Wilson and their producer hadn't treated Manson the way they did, he might have been an award winning performer instead of a crazed cult leader! Look up the song "My World" by Charles Manson. A voice so lovely he could have sang Christmas songs! Lol! Can y'all do a profile on Dwight Frye please? He was such an interesting person!

“Garbage dump, oh garbage dump! Why do they call you a garbage dump?” (From the album LIE). Yea, Mason was sooo prophetic… hmm, I taste sarcasm.
