Me, too, George. I grew up "Down South", and surfed from San Diego to Santa Barbara. The 60's rocked! I feel sorry for kids today. They just don't know what they missed! "Catch that Wave and Surf it" was coined by Dr. Timothy Leary, of 'Tune in, Turn on, Drop out' fame in the '60's. In 1991 Tim was showing primitive animations, moving triangles, you know, simple stuff. He said to the young audience... this is the future so, "Catch that Wave and Surf it". Interesting.

I always wondered, if the Beach boys were into skateboarding would they have called themselves the Skateboarding boys and sang about skateboarding? Or what about skiing? The Skiing boys? +Georgie Thumbs Actually, they wrote surfing songs because their drummer, Dennis Wilson was a surfer...he was the only one who surfed. But Jan & Dean were into both surfing and skateboarding, and they recorded "Catch A Wave" with lyrics about skateboarding-it's called :"Sidewalk Surfin'".

Also, their original names were the Pendletones, named after the shirt brand. They only got the _Beach Boys_ name when the record label that released their first single, _Surfin'_, changed the band name to that.

Catch a Wave came first. Jan and Dean later recorded Sidewalk Surfin' to the same tune (with The Beach Boys' blessing). Brian Wilson actually helped them rewrite it, with lyrics by Roger Chastain.
