... definitely SMILE is more than an 'unreleased album' , it has become The Endless Rabbit Hole of Music History. In the 2000s my girlfriend then gifted me a bootleg vinyl from 'Surfin Records' and since then I'm still discovering so many different sessions and mixes, and always SURPRISING. THANKS BRIAN 😇😇😇

Thinking endlessly about SMiLE these last few days made me think how insane of a genius Brian really is, and how is sad that the abuse of drugs and alchool can rob a person of their mind's sparkle. Love You, his 1988 debut album, and, of course, the finalized and "stitched up from patches" masterpiece Brian Wilson presents SMiLE, are all proof that Brian never completely lost his brightness in the midst of his crazyness, but all of that waves of raging sea made an impact, and we will always live in a world where his full potential was lost. Another sadden example of what Floyd meant with Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

@@cabinessence_timely_hello ...and he not only experienced that abuse of drugs; being a 'Dumb Angel' even suffered the abuse and manipulation from family, Mike Love, Eugene Landy etc. Happy to see how he has reached a peaceful longevity. 🙏

@@erikhurtado5125Yeah, I think a lot of the true reasons Brian never reached his full potential had less to do with drugs than it did with being manipulated and held back by all the domineering people in his life (Mike Love, Landy, Murry, etc). I’ve noticed that insanely creative and talented people like Brian and Syd Barrett tend to also be hypersensitive to outside influences, and unfortunately that often includes negative influences from those who would wish to use and control them. I’m just glad that he finally broke free of all that negativity in the 90’s and forward.

@@dylmoon1130Everything about this version except for the lack of a flowing lead vocal track is superior to just about every other version of GV I’ve ever heard. What few lyrics that exist here are obviously the ‘other’ lyrics that appear on the “Brian Wilson Presents” version from 2004. My guess is that those lyrics were far from completely written at the time of this recording. I also love that fuzz bass in the breakdown towards the end. That caught me off guard (in the best possible way).

Well let's see, the only genuine Smile-era tracks the 1st boot had on it were Do You Dig Worms, Barnyard, You Are My Sunshine/Old Master Painter, Been Way Too Long, Tones, Mrs. O'Leary's Cow + Here Come De Honeydew Man from Porgy & Bess masquerading as Holidays (which was actually pretty cool)), whereas this one added the original, revelatory, indispensable Smile versions of Wind Chimes, Wonderful, Child Is the Father of the Man, and was in far superior fidelity, so I don't think it's a very difficult question to answer.
