The titular beast looks like something out of the mind of Ray Harryhausen or Will Vinton and I’m all in for it. One of my personal favourites out of this collection so far

Fun fact, the lighthouse scene is actually the most important scene in the film because it comes pretty much directly from the main source that inspired the entire film in the first place. That scene is literally straight out of a short story by Ray Bradbury, which is also about a Dinosaur attacking a lighthouse on a foggy night. And it was also going to be recycled into the original 1954 Godzilla in its original script: There was a scene planned where Godzilla was going to become enraged by a lighthouse in Tokyo Bay and destroy it.

No wonder this movie hasn't died in the minds of many! Man, this is REALLY good concerning the timeframe! (I mean c'mon, that cop being pulled into the air? That's jaw-dropping!) I remember clips of this from my favorite documentary, "DINOSAUR!", starring Christopher Reeve. Ah, the nostalgia!

The one that inspired them all! The movie isn’t perfect but god damn is that Rhedosaurus so iconic. I think I remember it appearing in another movie where it gets eaten by a t-rex or something? Probably Mandela effect

You have a tiny mistake in your kill count. For numbers 2 and 3, actually both of them survive. The protagonist tries to talk to them both to get them to help prove his belief that the Beast exists. The captain refuses to talk, but the first mate is convinced to help and picks out the same image the protagonist picked from a series of artwork images of various Dinosaurs (one of which is the titular Beast, a fictional Dinosaur called the Rhedosaurus).
@broadwayblotto33
@broadwayblotto33 Жыл бұрын
In the attack and sinking of the boat shown in this video, only the captain died. The first mate survived, reluctantly cooperated and eventually identified the beast he saw, corroborating Prof. Nesbitt’s eyewitness account from the Arctic. Reference was made elsewhere in the film of another shipwreck off the coast of Canada. The captain of that ship, speaking French, angrily refused to pick up Nesbitt’s phone call regarding “Le serpent.”

The original short story that inspired this movie, The Fog Horn, was written by Ray Bradbury and it's actually quite a sad and moody piece of literature compared to it's movie counter-part. However, the Lighthouse scene and it's destruction were taken directly from the ending scene of the short. But weirdly enough, the tone and theming of the short was authentically recreated for the 13th episode of Pokemon, "Mystery at the Lighthouse".
