Yeah, this album is legendary for being one of the primary reasons for the copyright laws that came after

Really enjoyed your reaction to this fine album. Their next album Check Your Head is as large a departure from this album as this album was from the first album. You should check it out.

Hahah love the Ween comparisons. This is one of my favorite albums of all time but their next album Check Your Head is where they start mixing in their live playing and it changed my life when I heard it.

Egg man is basically a remake of their earlier song Egg Raid on Mojo which was on their Polywog Stew EP when they were still a punk band.

I started to get into Beastie Boys last year (early/mid 2023). Only really knew them because of "Fight for Your Right" and "Intergalactic" before that. I decided to listen their records in full one day, and the second I finished "Licensed to Ill" and put on this record.... it blew me away. I honestly did not expect "Paul's Boutique" to sound vastly different than the debut album, and now it's honestly one of my favorite records ever.

Yea similar reaction I had. Enjoyed their debut a lot and went into this expecting a slightly more elevated version of the debut but it ended up being leagues above my expectations

Run the Jewels and Rage Against the Machine and Beck, DJ Shadow, Chromeo, A Tribe Called Quest are all byproducts of this album.

it's insane that at that time when released that the album flopped...and now its one of the mt Rushmore albums for hip hop.

“At the risk of sounding ridiculous, let us assert right off the bat that Paul's Boutique is as important a record in 1989 as Dylan's Blonde on Blonde was in 1966.” ~ David Hiltbrand, People Magazine, 1989, Critique of Album “Paul’s Boutique”

Brav, I don’t like to drop hate on videos like this but your just driving me crazy 😂

Brav, it's alright if you don't like the video. I can't please everyone. What in particular don't you like?

Great reaction man! B-boy bouillabaisse is on the album as the last track. I had the cd back in the day

Some claim this is the best or most influential rap album ever. This album into Check your head are my favorite 3-4 years of the bands stretch.

This album set the standards for record companies to change the laws regarding sampling. This album had more samples than any other album in history.
@mikefetterman67823 ай бұрын
Kick it and NNNNNNN-dRRRRROooooop are two of their own samples they use throughout their catalog.

Car Thief is one of my favs on here, plus Shadrach, and A year and a day.
@mikefetterman67823 ай бұрын
Yauch does a lot on Year and a day, but Mike D is there too with a distorted, compressed voice.

Actually this album is one of the reasons for the sampling copyright laws. Along with a lot of Early Public enemy. One of my favorite albums ever

tip: just listen to each track all the way through, then comment. you are missing a lot of crucial subtleties in the music because you are talking on top of it and necessarily not listening in those moments. absorb the song fully first, then react. that said, good job. check your head and ill communication are also incredibly solid albums, so keep going.

Son of a gun, son of a bitch getting paid getting rich....... (Led Zep- Levee). The lyrics distracted your from the great Gonzo.

It's not Levee it's Mississippi queen ❤

Paul's Boutique is the greatest album ever made. Miles Davis said so himself...

Great reaction to such a historic album. They thought they made the best album ever...but no one bought it, so they view it as a failure. The world wanted Fight for your Right Part 2, not Hey Ladies... Have you heard their next album Check Your Head? Its a masterpiece as well!

I've heard a few songs off Check Your Head and I've loved what I've heard

damn son at least do it in the proper order before you criticize and understand how to turn up audio seriously
@Randyjoe213Ай бұрын
What do you mean "the proper order"? This is the exact same tracklist as anywhere else and I praise this album from start to finish.
