I love the way they do this scene. It is also a reminder for us, because people like these are often not listened to or overlooked. The poor in spirit are often ignored, the meek are shadowed by the proud, those who seek righteousness seem as radical. Those who are merciful are seen as weak in today’s world, and those who are peacemakers are often out-shadowed by those who cause chaos. Look for these people. Don’t listen to what the world says about them. When you look for these groups of people…you see Him in them. Be the salt of the earth.

Man… same. So may times when reading through the Gospels, especially with older translations, it’s hard for me at least to really see the combination of humble humanity, and almighty divine power of God.. this show, even though it is just a tv show, really to me helps illustrate those parts of Jesus that were so REAL. I rewatch scenes time to time and can’t help but just cry my eyes out because even though it’s an actor, I see HIM and dude it’s beyond refreshing.

I’m not religious but when my sister would fight with my mother and my twin brother used to act out my grandmother who is dead six years she would say blessed are the peacemakers when I would calm everything down to know my name is Matthew and she was quoting the gospel of Matthew warms my heart a bit

I love how Jesus made Matthew feel important and spent time with him one on one. Even though some of the disciples weren’t very fond of Matthew, Jesus bonded with Matthew anyways. Matthew was rich and yet he left all his riches behind to live a very humble life, sleeping on the ground in the desert and constantly traveling on foot because of how much he loved his savior. I love him 😭.

Season 2 Episode 8...24 min + "I don't want passive followers,those who are truly committed will peer deeply into it looking for truth". Key words from the final episode...this is why he spoke in Parables too.Those who want to see will have their hearts and minds enlightened to the truth of his word. We have to be 100% or nothing with Jesus.He wants followers not fans. After PASSION OF CHRIST this is THE only show that touched me so much. And this episode especially made me want to read the beatitudes and memorise it. Every bible verse said in this shows touches you so much. I cry at times when I hear them. Every actor has done justice to this show. Perhaps prayer for a spirit of discernment in others might become one of my most fervent, cuz I've watched so many people turn away from the truth because they've seen its label countless times. "How am I supposed to know what the truth is when all these people are saying they have the truth and all others are liars? To hell with this, I'll define the truth for myself." And in those days there was no king, and everyone did what was right in their own eyes. (paraphrase Judges 21:25) *Jesus gave us a road map to Him.* The depth of that realization hits harder and harder every time I go back to the Beatitudes. He *knew* the future was going to distort the truth; it was distorted so soon after His time and it continues to get muddier even now. He made sure that no matter what, we would be able to find our way back to Him because His people would strive to reflect Him in their hearts. And whether you find them or they come to you so you can find it yourself... the Truth has always been there, calling you to discern it from the rest. To the believers, keep your flavour, and hold your lights high. To the ones we want to reach... seek and you will find, the Truth of Christ in His people.

The Beatitudes are beautiful words spoken by the Lord Jesus, but they are in reality the hardest words to follow. To be humble and righteous, and merciful, etc all the time is not easy, but the reward is greater in heaven for those that follow the Beatitudes.
