Jimmy Nicols: "Being removed from the Beatles was the hardest thing that I ever experienced." Pete Best: "Tell me about it."

The only difference is Jiimmy Nichol knew he was a stand in deputizing for Ringo.And Jimmy Nicholl made the grade and they like him. Unfortunately Pete did not make the grade and also John,Paul and George did not like Pete Best.

Jimmy Nichol was also the inspiration for "Getting Better" - a phrase he used a lot when asked by the Beatles how he was faring in his new position.

Nah not permanently George just didn't like that the show had to go on
@nevillede-hoedt65208 ай бұрын
@ringostarchy No, they wouldn't have got rid of Ringo, he was a huge part of them finally becoming the famous 'Beatles'. Band member's once they have established themselves and the band play well together, (a fill in) is just sitting in while the permanent member recover's from their ailment or what has caused them to be taking time out. Today things are a lot more flexible with band member's, and just taking time off to have a break away from the ( job commitment ), there use replacement people who maybe available for a term. With Elvis Presley, there is only one of him, so it didn't matter if one of his band member's weren't available. But if Elvis himself wasn't available, then the show would have to be put on hold until he was. With 'The Beatles', same deal, !!!? except there is 4 of them. Replacing Ringo at that crucial part of their first ever world tour, was a huge chance the Beatle management were risking, but at the time, they had already put the plan together, and felt an obligation to go ahead with the tour! In reality, they stood to get a lot of flack and negative media reporting and slagging off, but they were lucky this didn't happen. (OK John Lennon made a comment based on his observation of how he saw themselves, and it put the whole Beatle team in (dire straits ) Americans burning Beatle records and collector's memorabilia, at risk. It took a long while for people to adjust to the fact, that what John Lennon had said, was the truth, and fact's. He was right, we only have to look at what is happening today, 60 years later, to realise 'The Beatles' are more than just 4 people playing in a band. They are the biggest event that has ever happened to the world, in our generation's lifetime. Without John, Paul, George and Ringo, there wouldn't have been 'The Beatles' ! It was realised that if this were to happen again where a member wasn't available, then the tour would be postponed or put on hold, rescheduled to a more appropriate time. 'The Beatles' became joined at the hip's, and wouldn't play without each other. George Harrison was in his rights to have the attitude he took at the time. Management made the decision to go ahead. If and when Elvis wasn't well, tour dates and shows were cancelled till further notice. Once Ringo became 'The Beatles' drummer, he wasn't going to be replaced. Their film 'A Hard Days Night' was already made and completed, ready for release once the tour was over, also an Album had been recorded and completed, ready for release. Everything was running to schedule! The following year (1965) they were on a 2nd world tour, but Australia wasn't included in this tour. They had a gruelling hard time with this tour, plus recording another album during time, and due to the rigorous hardships, screaming fans, continued technical issues, unable to hear themselves when playing live on stage, George and Ringo almost quit, it was all becoming too hard, and a lot of the footage of 'The Beatles', clearly shows the bedlam and hysteria they were enduring through out those final tours. It had turned into a madness, that they couldn't fathom or deal with. They had become 4 frustrated individuals who were totally exhausted from the whole 'Beatlemania' Circus!. They all needed time out from 'The Beatles', and from one another, including all the people who worked around them, very very confining.

Happy Birthday Jimmie Nicol born on August 3, 1939. He is an English drummer and business entrepreneur. He is best known for replacing Ringo Starr in the Beatles for eight concerts of The Beatles' 1964 world tour during the height of Beatlemania, elevating him from relative obscurity to worldwide fame and then back again in the space of a fortnight. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmie_Nicol

It's hard to for me to understand how someone could have enough material to actually write a book about this? I mean, an 8 minute video pretty much covers it. Poor Jimmy is nothing more than a footnote in the Beatles history. Must have been nothing but a tease to be in the most famous band in the world for 2 weeks, just to return to life of obscurity.

Vom Spielstil war er Ringo ebenbürtig, aber, die Grenze zwischen Erfolg und Nichtssein ist sehr dünn. Die Beatles haben ihren Erfolg vielen Zufällen zu verdanken, aber eben auch ihrem Können.
