Great observation about him singing slightly higher than his normal range. I love the harmonies as well and I loved the drum part and really I liked all of it but I agree, his singing on this is just superb.

Their first album is a masterpiece. It captured the cavern sound. George Martin confirmed that after seeing them at the cavern. Around half a day to lay down the tracks. A great album.

Cimdy your facial expressions and reactions to every song you listen too is simply priceless. You put “yourself in the music” and you always come across as authentic. It’s a joy to see how you feel the music and how we as an audience, get to see this written on your face. Every micro movement, every emotion, every smile and sometimes every grimace.😂. The Beatles are the greatest band to ever existed on planet earth. Please keep them coming.🙏❤️🎼.x

You're going way back with this. Note of interest: there are two songs on this album that never appeared on any American album," Misery", and, " There's a Place".
@1967PONTIACGTO3 жыл бұрын
Misery was released on a Canadian album called "The Beatles' Long Tall Sally", which is similar but not identical to the US album The Beatles' Second Album. "There's A Place" was the flip side of the 45 single of "Twist and Shout" in both Canada and the US, and fortunately I had one of those because "There's A Place" is one of my favourite early Beatles songs

Brilliant reaction Cimdy. As a prepubescent male in 1963, I was fascinated by this song, and never considered it from the female perspective...Anna was kind of flakey! Not that true love isn't a thing that can supersede any other thing, to give her her due. Ahh, love is love, what you gonna do...

Very nice Cimdy, good one. This song was voted on by Beatles fans as one of their worst. I would strongly disagree with that assessment. I've always loved this song, John's vocals are just so powerful and emotional and the harmonies by Paul and George are wonderful. How can one not enjoy this performance? This is a cover of Arthur Alexander's original recording which was released in September of 1962.The Beatles cover is far superior too the original. The Beatles are by far the all time Kings of cover versions. I have never heard one that wasn't better than the originals. Another great cover on this album is of "The Shirelles" 1963 hit "Baby It's You". Another great one from Please Please Me is "Ask Me Why" which was written 70% John and 30, Paul. John takes the lead vocal here. Another great one is John's "Please Please Me" if you haven't already done it. Two more great cover's from their second Lp "With The Beatles" are The Marvelettes 1961 hit "Please Mr. Postman" sung by John and Smokey Robinson And The Miracles 1961 hit "You Really Got A Hold On Me" sung by John along with George. Add one more from this Lp, Barrett Strong's 1959 hit "Money" John lead vocal again. Please keep these in mind young lady. I just gave you some great material here. One more thing here being that it's Christmas 🎄 this month. How about John's "Happy Christmas (war is over)" and Paul's "Wonderful Christmas Time" Both staple classics here in the States. 🎄✌️☮️💕

Too often people do the "find the worst Beatle song" game. Instead of technical or music theory knowledge, they come up with their own musical preference. Most judge from a standpoint of Classic rock radio mandatory playlist material like Come Together, Revolution, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Helter Skelter , While My Guitar Gently Weeps that they are weened on, rather than having lived through the Beatles and 1960's era. They don't seem to understand the 1960's era had many changes over 6-7 years and the 1960's wasn't all Jimi Hendrix and The Led Zeppelin. and that the Betles were singers and guitar solos were not the focus of the band, but short solos were an ingredient. They were songsmith's and singers. the original focus was not on "heavy metal" at this point....there was no such thing, that evolved. The 1950's didn't really end until President Kennedy was assassinated and the Beatles showed up. Over the next two-three years we still had elements of the 1950's as the British music Invasion, Civil Right Movement and Vietnam slowly changed things. It often seems impossible for worst Beatle song hunters to say "Even though I don't like the song, it's not my style of music, it's a great performance, and a well constructed song." Or they cannot imagine if one slows down "There's a Place" to a slow ballad, it becomes a beautiful love song [this was done by Gabrielle Alpine on the 50th Anniversary recreation of the Please Please Me album]. So what is a "worst Beatle Song?" Or is the real statement here that Led Zeppelin can do no wrong? What a joke. But I know the ones that have some merit as the worst one because hey, nobody's perfect. Don't Pass Me Buy, Blue Jay Way, Honey Pie, It's All Too Much... they don't follow the format of a "normally" constructed song, but are still better than most of the one hit wonder drivel that has been put out there over the years [Don't Get Me started on "Surfin' Bird 😂]. Although one song for me is Ringo's "Don't Pass Me By," if they only left out that annoying organ lol, and played it as a band with guitars, drums, bass, piano and added the fiddle player-traditional country music instruments. The songs works as a comical fun thing, is constructed well with a story line, with solid versus and chorus and melody. It may have even become a country music hit if they followed my advice on the instrumentation, lol.

@@thomastimlin1724 Wow Thomas, this is probably the most well thought out response on The Beatles. The first thing that jumped out for me was Zeppelin and solos. I don't know how many times I've put that out there. I've often commented too Zep heads that if you're into lengthy John Bonham drum solos (Mobey Dick is an entire side 2 drum Solo) it's like 15 minutes long and Jimmy Page lengthy guitar solos, that's fine but too my ears it's almost like showing off and grows old quickly with me. When I was like 15 in the early seventies it was cool but kind of a hard listen now. With Pink Floyd you know you're always going to get a great solo from David Gilmore but is it always necessary? For me George's little solos on "Nowhere Man", and his rockabilly ones on "All My Loving" and "I'm A Loser" accomplish just as much and are more pleasing too my ears but then that's just me. I guess music is always subjective and debatable. I just don't get some people who don't get Beatles music, just what are their ears hearing. I hear enough people also say that they were good musicians but not great. I don't have time for nonsense like that and not worth my time responding too except for maybe a what? The Beatles were great musicians for what they were trying too accomplish. Each member had their roles and never did one try too outshine the other's. Another one is "Ringo's not a great drummer" Well what defines great? For that band he was the perfect drummer is my response. Like you said, they were tunesmiths and as far as I'm concerned the greatest ever at it. I go by this one. When people who study music theory and know what they're talking about are asked where do The Beatles fit into music history, the one name that always comes up first is Beethoven and then they will often laugh and say that The Beatles had lot more songs and most of them are catchy as hell. Sounds good too me. When John was asked later in his life why they always had do many really good to great tracks on their albums and all of their B sides on their singles were good too really good and even great his response was "We were always trying too give the fans the most bang for their buck" What a great answer, no bragging here, just a humble honest answer. Could you imagine if Pete Townshend was asked that question about the Who? Good lord, God help us all. Another thing that always stands out in my mind is that I remember there was a radio dj here in the Pittsburgh area who went by the name "Little Jimmy Roach' on FM WDVE radio and once or twice a year they would have Beatles Weekend, all Beatles 24 hrs a day and I always him once saying that " The Beatles are the only band that I've ever listened too I'd that you can drop the needle down at random on their albums and there's always something interesting going on there" that sums up The Beatles for me. For me The Beatles and Bob Dylan define the sixties. They are like the ultimate bookends for a crazy and the most musically productive decade in history. Dylan's another whole phenom. Don't even get me started. One more note here, do these Zep, Floyd and other heads realize how rare it is too have three members in one band who could really, really sing and harmonize and play. The Beach Boys come too mind with The Beatles. Zeppelin, Floyd, The Stones and even pretty much Queen had one lead singer and their music always sounds alike. All great bands but not like my 4 guys. I wonder where these Beatles worst songs list people would rank "You Know My Name (look up the number) Personally, I find it too be very entertaining and s lot of fun, great Beatles humor here. I always found George's "Only A Northern Song" too be an interesting track also, it wouldn't be on my playlist but kind of a cool instrumentally and fun lyrics are fun with him taking a shot at their publishing company, Northern Songs Ltd. Once again it was very nice too hear from someone that knows what they're talking about. You're the only commenter that I ever heard bring up music theory and I can respect that. Too my ears and for my money, The Beatles are by far the greatest and most intelligent band too ever do it. They got it! Merry Christmas too you Thomas. Like Burl Ives sang "It's the best time of the year" I love classic Christmas music. 🎄✌️☮️💕
