The Beatles - Hey Jude - Reaction Video

I was familiar with the extended singalong at the end, but somehow never connected it to this song. Thanks to this reaction, this Beatles classic is now part of my conversation repertoire when it comes to their discography. Let me know your thoughts on this track in the comments.

Paul said it was originally Hey Jules (for Julian) but before recording it he decided that Hey Jude was a better sound. It is, apparently, about Paul telling Julian how to accept his father's relationship with Yoko.

By 1963/64, during the I want to hold your hand era, when Beatlemania was sweeping large parts of the planet, the Beatles had long since developed a distinctive identity. Created on hard nights in dark clubs and cellars in England and Hamburg. Curiosity, willingness to experiment, drugs (...), later the necessary financial freedom, the know how of producer George Martin, made constant reinvention possible on all levels. Musically, this resulted in the Beatles trying out 15+ different genres, often innovative, or at least developing the respective genre further. Quincy Jones' remark is, of course, utter nonsense. In fact, the Beatles were certainly no instrumental virtuosos, but extremely experienced live musicians, very, very tricky and with a sense of aesthetics, that is still pretty unique today, without ever losing the feeling for kick ass rock.

Thanks for the context. It’s easy to think they just emerged in 1963, so that was a bit reductive of me.
