@@jvs333 Wrong yourself, according to the very old black musicians who spoke of their experiences on an old PBS program about country and blues music. Every one of them talked about how they and their white share cropper friends started getting together at night to sing country songs, and how that branched out into gospel, blues, and rock n' roll. Not taking away anything by giving credit where it's due; because "black music" took off like crazy after that and is still loved the world over ... in many ways, thanks to Elvis.

@jnagarya519
@jnagarya519 Жыл бұрын
@@JFFM730 That's why I assert that one can't grasp the evolution of "The Beatles" unless one begins at the beginning, and listens to their releases chronologically, both singles and LPs. Too many listen to others about the half-dozen songs everyone else listens to. They entirely miss the point. In fact, "The Beatles" on AM radio meant that their LPs were usually #1 on BOTH LP AND SINGLES charts because ALL tracks on their LPs were played -- not only the designated single. That WAS NOT done with ANYONE ELSE. Listening to a few of their singles, and or a few LP tracks, is not what happened at the time. And that includes the lame excuse that their early stuff was "pop". Uh, well, yeah -- "pop" is not a "genre"; it is short for POPULAR. When "The Beatles" hit the US they BOOKED it -- and EVERYONE ELSE chased but never caught them. Even their stupidly disparaged "pop" songs were a cut above all the rest. And on FM radio, which was just finding its legs with Rock in 1968, the entire four sides of the "The Beatles" (aka "White" LP) were played without commercials or other interruptions, every evening, during the two weeks before its release. THAT is how HUGE "The Beatles" were. And on those weekends everything on the LP was played, mixed in with all other "Beatles" recordings. "The Beatles" consolidated their position at #1, WORLD WIDE, by mid-1965. And they continued to grow -- they never peaked -- until they broke up. It is impossible to communicate how "The Beatles" impacted EVERYTHING. An excellent way to get a sense of that is the 2 DVD set of all "The Beatles" appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show". Those include the ENTIRE shows, including commercials -- the impact on the other performers was immediate, and increased from first, to second, to third, appearance. One gets a better sense of their impact by what was going on around and because of them.

The Gem among Beatle Jams. John Lennon pull full emotion into this song and it shows. It's raw, it's hungry (for Yoko), it's pain, It's fear, it's love, it's need, it's more emotion....all stirred up into a mind bending powerful song. Simple lyrics....John didn't need but about 13 words to convey his desires (She's so heavy = She's so mind-blowing - craving her emotionally, sexually, mentally, etc). Those intense John Lennon screams say it all. Great reaction, Emily, you understood the song's vibe 100% on the first listen! Some people can't! P.S. Go Sox~!

Emily, you nail it, the Beatles played as well as created so many genres of music you never knew what was next.....BUT you always knew/know when you first hear/heard it, it is/was the Beatles. Before the Beatles of course there was good music but you couldn't really tell who was who. What they did was open the door for future legends to know that anything goes, sky was the limit. Even having said that almost every band before and since have picked their genre and stuck with it. That is the difference maker and why they are heralded by not just millions, but across the globe as the greatest band in history. Subscribed.

The ending works better as an album track, the next song after this is Here Comes The Sun and in the album Abbey Road is a great transition from the end of this song. Paul McCartney and John Lennon are the two main singers and songwriters, Paul is the one without shoes in the blue suit on that cover, he sung Oh Darling and Helter Skelter, John Lennon is the one in the white suit and beard in the cover. This one is written and sung by John Lennon. John played rhythm Guitar, Paul played bass and piano mainly, George Harrison is the one in the blue denim suit and he played lead guitar and also writes and sings a few songs, Ringo Starr plays drums, he’s in the black suit.

This song has an unorthodox ending, but I think it works - John knew exactly where he wanted the tape to be cut, the implication being that the song could have gone on forever. As you touched on, Paul had (and still has) a prolific solo career, but all 4 Beatles did some solo stuff, some of which is well worth a listen. After the Beatles, Paul formed a band called Wings - some Wings songs worth checking out: Jet, Band on the run, Let me roll it, Live and let die, Letting go and Big barn bed. Some highlights from Paul's solo career: Maybe I'm amazed, Ebony and ivory (featuring Stevie Wonder), Spies like us, Rough ride, Hope of deliverance, C'mon people, Biker like an icon and The world tonight. If you want some recommendations for the other Beatles' solo stuff, just holler out on the channel - I'll be happy to oblige, as will plenty of others here I'm sure

Emily, great reaction ,your very insitefull about these guys. Most of the songs were written by Paul and John, John tended to do the heavier,rockier stuff while Paul wrote the more softer,ballad stuff. All of them were multi talented instrument player. This album was a masterpiece,especially the second side which has a great melody of songs together. You really should buy it and listen to it on your own , It is now over 50 years ago but it is without a doubt a masterpiece even by todays standards. Also they tended to have two periods to their music, the early 60's to 67 where the y were more light hearted and radio friendly songs,then when the hippe days started around 1967 they got into some really experimental music (Sargent Pepper Album,white Album) . Abbey Road was their final album together. George passed away a few years ago and unfortunately John was shot to death in N.Y.C. in 1980 he was only 40 yrs. old. Having said all of that ANY Beatle song is a good song, they didn't put out many bad ones.

Yeah they only released music together as a band for about 7.5 years, but they really didn't fall off the planet after that. Every single member of the band made it solo to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Yes even the drummer (Ringo)! Not sure if any other band in history was elected to the RnR Hall of Fame followed by all of their members in solo careers. Maybe someone can help me out on that.

Nice reaction! Yeah, the bands that came around in the 60s were almost all from England, and The Beatles were leading the way, it was called "The British Invasion"! It's ironic that all these British bands at the time, all had American Blues and Rock and Roll players, as huge influences. There's a great short video about the history of The Beatles, it's only about 30 minutes long but it gives a short synopsis of The Beatles career. It shows what it was like when "Beatlemania" was sweeping across America, It's very interesting. It's called, "A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BEATLES" I've been a life long Beatles fan ever since I saw them in their very first appearance in the United States, on The Ed Sullivan TV Show in 1964! They were an incredible band,... the greatest Rock & Roll band of all time, if you have any doubt about that just Google, "The Greatest Band Of All Time", and see what comes up. LOL!. They had influence's on virtually every Rock band that came after them, and keep in mind they ARE, and always have been, a Rock & Roll band. They have sold over 800 million albums word wide, number one on the list. Quite the number when you consider he band, Pink Floyd< in second place has 400 million albums sold to date.

As always, I love when you love a Beatles song! I can tell that they're really growing on you and they have such a huge catalog to explore. This song was meant to cut off like that! Lennon's song, his idea to do that. It was the last song on the first side of the record album. Of course it sounds different when you hear it on CD where everything is continuous, so imagine this heavy heavy song, and then the next one is the bright, lovely, cheerful "Here Comes the Sun" (George Harrison's classic). I think you'll love that one too, hope you give it a listen.

Music in America (and most of the English-speaking world) was pretty square before 1964 when the Beatles led what would become known as the "British Invasion." You see, right behind the Beatles came other groups from the U. K., including the Dave Clark Five, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Herman's Hermits, the Hollies, and many, many more. But the Beatles opened those floodgates, and it changed popular music here in America and around the world forever. The thing about the Beatles is, they changed more than just music. Boys wore their hair like the Beatles (long, back when boys didn't wear their hair long at all), and girls wanted to be with boys with long hair. Fashion changed. The whole social consciousness changed around the music. Then songwriters started using their voice to send messages and change the world, from Civil Rights to ending the pointless war in Vietnam -- music was at the center of everything. And no one changed music more than the Beatles.

I've always thought that was a brilliant ending. It's better than anything they could have put there and plus you have to remember is it was at the end of side A of the record, and in that last section they don't sing the part about she's so heavy over it but they just keep building and building and it's so hypnotic like you're in a trance. Plus you have to remember it was a very popular thing for people to get high and listen to Beatles albums because of all the ear candy and they were just so damn amazing. So anyway you get put into this trance and then there's that cold stop and it rips you right back to reality. And it's the end of the record, then you can hear the needle on that last bit of vinyl before the arm picks up or perhaps you have to manually lift it up. You just kind of left in shock the first time you hear it. They even when you've heard it a bunch? You're listening to it and you get caught up and it's still surprises you because you never know exactly when it's coming, laugh.

I remember in 1978 when a buddy and I made a version this song that was looped and relooped the final famous sequence that seems to go on forever. It turned out to be a 45-minute song. It just went on and on! As alluded-to above, this was John Lennon's song and was sung and particularly directed in the music sequences by John. Anybody who has or has heard Abbey Road totally recognizes the powerful songs this album including this one. Abbey Road was the Beatles' last cooperative effort in the studio. Let it Be, their last published effort was involved in contract disputes and squabbles and wound up being the Beatles' last release.

You expected something else at the end but you didn't get it. That's The Beatles, they never give you what exactly you expect. That's one of the things that makes them great.

I first saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show with my parents around 1964. Also remember The Rolling Stones about the same time. Ed Sullivan was an old guy but had many young groups of the time. I love Paul’s bass playing on this song. So many great hits in such a short time. Too bad Yoko brought them to break up. That freaking nut case.

@JKTritt 3 жыл бұрын
That story is BS. At the time they broke up, all of them were stressed and tired of being “The Beatles”. Each for different reasons. It was actually George who left first. He was tired of having his songs ignored by John and Paul. Ringo tried to play peacemaker. George came back with Eric Clapton in tow and started laying down the beginning tracks for “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and Paul and Ringo jumped in. John took a little more persuasion. This was during the White Album sessions. Not long after, Paul and John got into another argument over the business side of things and the breakup happened on its own. Yes, Yoko’s presence was one of the stresses, but a minor one. It wasn’t Yoko, per se, but John’s addiction to her that caused that part of the tension. But by that time the writing was already on the wall. The Let It Be album was recorded before the White Album, but wasn’t released until after they had gone their separate ways. IIRC

One of my top 5 Beatle favorites, maybe no. 1. You mentioned Paul had no shoes on, there's a lot more there, and other covers. It'd take me forever to point them all out, there's a small booklet called " Turn Me On, Dead Man " that talks about them an the myth/ story behind them and Paul's car wreck and " death". Can't remember who wrote it but shouldn't be hard to find.....

If you get around to Here Comes The Sun do the 2019 50th anniversary remix with a very nice video. This song as of September 2019 was the most streamed song on Spotify with over 350 Million streams, I don't know what it's up to now. That alone makes it worth checking out. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were The Beatles. John, Paul and George all sang lead which is pretty unique in itself. John and Paul wrote and sang most of the songs. The Lennon/McCartney songbook is by far the greatest in history. Michael Jackson bought it in the mid-eighties for about 150 million dollars. His family sold it a couple of years ago for over one billion dollars. You say genres, you haven't even began to scratch the surface young lady, you have no clue about the rabbit 🐰🐇 hole you have descended into. This band holds every major record in the history of recorded music and their influence on popular culture cannot be measured to this day. Without them the 🌎 of music and pop culture would look quite different. Greatest Band Ever! Don't even debate it. By the way, George Harrison blossomed into one hell of songwriter in his own right. One more thing, all 4 went on to have very successful solo careers and all 4 were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame not just as The Beatles but also as solo artists. Take care

"The British Invasion" was a result of British post war kids heard the pop, rock n roll, rhythm & blues, jazz, and country music from america all at once instead of the am radio top 40 hits in a narrow range of music that Americans were being fed - especially the mix of black and white artists on the same radio shows that didn't happen here.

Hello and thank you. Two thoughts: earliest Beatles did black girl-group covers - "Please, Mr Postman" - as well as Smokey Robinson's "You Really Got a Hold on Me" ( a GREAT John Lennon lead.) Paul McCartney studied Little Richard and used his ooooohs at the end of every line. You have a joyous future ahead of you with your passion and curiosity.

Until this song, I think I'd heard you react to three different Beatles songs and I remember thinking it's interesting because so far you've only heard Paul McCartney's voice. Except that they always sing harmony on each other's. Everybody in the band sang. But this one featured John Lennon on the lead. And people can argue about which one was the better singer but I think for most of us that have been around it for a while plus I'm a musician and have played in bands my entire life, I don't really see them in any competition. Especially if you look at some of their early life stuff, their energy together is just amazing. Their voices and singing Styles compliment each other perfectly to me. That's what made them so incredible and then George was a really good singer too and Ringo was just kind of a lazy singer but it worked. There are so many Beatles songs, You have no idea. You should listen to one that has George Harrison although I think I saw one in the list, While My Guitar Gently weeps. That's his song. But Ringo has some really hilarious songs they all do have amazing songs. This is kind of interesting too I think. Paul McCartney named Little Richard as one of his main influences, whereas John Lennon named Carl Perkins as one of his main influences. And I love them both so much but it totally makes sense. Sometimes you should go listen to a few Little Richard songs and maybe some live footage cuz he was quite the Entertainer as well way back in the day before the beatles. And then Carl Perkins takes a little getting used to if you're not already familiar with that kind of music but he really grows on you and his songs were just so good and they have this kind of borderline rockabilly Shuffle and Bop to them which is just really rhythmic and fun.

Emily, another great Beatles reaction! I’ve seen your other ones as well. I’d suggest now going back to their early years and listen to “I want to Hold your Hand”, or “Can’t Buy me Love”. Very different from these, but still great. Then listen to “Yesterday” or “Eleanor Rigby” (more classical string instruments on a Rock/Pop song). Then close out with “A Day in the Life” (goes from one extreme to the other, and very haunting). Other Beatles fans will suggest others, and they’ll be right too. Just enjoy The Beatles ride you’re on.

Better late than never. You're just too Sweet. If you enjoyed this song, as well as those other songs. May I suggest a fantastic movie that is based on Beatles songs. "ACROSS THE UNIVERSE". the actors in the movie sing the Beatles songs that are in character with the scenes. All the actors do a fantastic job on the vocals, and the choreography is absolutely unbelievable. John Lennon was the Beatles Lead singer, Paul McCartney had his lead songs as did George Harrison and Ringo to a minimal amount. They all made a Solo career. But John Lennon was assassinated in New York city ,and his Solo career ended Young. Paul McCartney then took the limelight after John's death. As most today think Paul today is the lead of the Beatles. Because McCartney has a well polished PR team selling his name, but he definitely has the talent. John Lennon actually started the group in its beginning.

They wrote a new song only finished it an hour before it went on live they recorded it and broadcast it on TV at the same time a billion people watching , all you need is love 1967 they dominated the world charts . Once the us top 5 song were all Beatles songs in 64 I think
