The Beatles' 1964 tour of Australia was a landmark event that significantly shaped the nation's music and cultural landscape. Beginning in Adelaide on the 12th of June, the tour saw more than 350,000 people, half of the city's population at the time, welcoming the band with an enthusiasm that was replicated in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, where the Beatles played to packed venues.
In this video, commemorating the 60th anniversary of the tour, we hear firsthand accounts from individuals who attended these historic concerts, capturing the excitement and energy of the era. Additionally, insights from Radio DJ Bob Rogers, who travelled with the Beatles throughout the tour, provide a unique perspective on the events that unfolded behind the scenes and the fan hysteria that epitomised Beatlemania.
