The shows took place at 5.15pm and 9pm. The second show was filmed by German television network Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF), and followed a brief afternoon rehearsal set for the cameras. The footage was shown as Die Beatles on channel two on Tuesday 5 July, from 8-8.45pm.
Also appearing on the bill were Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers, The Rattles and Peter and Gordon. The German leg of the tour was known as the Bravo Blitztournee, and was sponsored by the entertainment magazine Bravo.

+Maverikk68 Clearly the poorest performed song for this show. They might have added it on at the end for an encore thinking it'll rock things up but it looks like they hadn't played it in forever. They came on stage and they plugged in their own cords and turned the amps up.

+John Schreiber This was the first show of their 1966 world tour (June 24), their first since the previous December, and there was no rehearsal. They played "I'm Down"' on May 1 for the NME awards, but there's no documentation on the quality of the performance since a contractual dispute resulted in ABC cameras being turned off for that performance.

Love how tight they were before they stopped touring, not just musically but as friends. It's obvious they're having fun up there and enjoying each other's company. I love the story about having no front windshield on their car, being driven to their next gig and all four laying on top of each other for warmth, passing a whiskey bottle back and forth. You don't get much closer than that.

I saw the Beatles at Boston's Suffolk Downs on August 18, 1966, and it was pretty much the same set list as in Germany. My friends Skip, Bobby, and I hitchhiked from Rockland, Maine to Boston the day before the concert. The next morning, a kind man working the ticket booth let us walk in to see where our seats were. We were dismayed to see they were far to the left, a long distance from the stage. We went back to the ticket man, told him our story about thumbing down from Maine the day before (we stayed up all night), and he swapped our tickets, saying, "I'll think you'll like these better." That night, we discovered that we were in the 23rd row, directly in front of the stage. I'm forever grateful for the kindness shown to us by the ticket man that day, because not only could we see the band, we could hear them too, which was unlikely in the rear bleachers due to the deafening sounds of screaming fans.

They were just 'lounging around' and getting some sun) I didn't even know they were there, playing at the 'Congo' showroom for two or maybe three days...I think it was a 'spur of the moment' type thing for them to be in Las Vegas)

They were writing and recording songs like Tomorrow Never Knows right now, at the same time while still playing songs they were playing in the Cavern and back in Hamburg 6 years earlier. The dichotomy of that, the complete juxtaposition of the simple, early, straight rock n roll tunes while at the same time they're actively getting ready to expand your mind and your ears in a whole new direction..... my God were these guys good! Fucking amazing!!!! And you have no idea how it warms my heart to see John smiling and enjoying playing Yesterday. Historically it would seem that was the first crack in their armor, that Paul was going it alone without them and just the quartet in the studio. But you can tell they're still the buddies they started out as when they met at that village fete in 1957.

Great video thanks for posting. This was around the time that the critics were both dying for and expecting "The Beatles" to screw things up or fade away. But as we all know that didn't happen. They just kept on coming out with the most extraordinary music and evolving and changing all the time. Totally magnificent.

There must be something inside everyone of us, human beings, that is deeply touched in our souls whenever music is played live without any kind of artificial device to correct voices, tuning, pitch....mistakes do not matter, wrong lyrics become part of the legend, jokes and camaraderie among fellow musicians on stage remind us that perfection is not needed every time someone plays or sings a note. It reminds us that we can send men to the Moon, rovers to Mars, but we still can relax and enjoy what we are: humans beings with flaws....The Beatles playing live in 1966 in the country where they honed their musical skills to turn into what we learned to love and look at in awe, even in 2021, is the quintessence of this.

It's amazing how crude things were as late as 1966. The Beatles are essentially their own roadies, plugging in their instruments etc. It's a shame they didn't stick around just a few years longer to take advantage of the technology of the late 60's early 70's.

I saw Paul in 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. His STAGE monitoring control desk was bigger than most bands PA control desk, and his PA control desk took up easily 3 sections of seating space in the middle of the floor of the arena. All the Beatles had were their amps and the house loudspeakers. Not even a little stage monitor speaker. And poor Ringo had nothing - sitting behind the guitar amps all the time he couldn't even play off of them! That they could still play in tune, on time, and in synch on all the changes is mind blowing.

+MannyMUCpsychodelia Very true. They did have an opportunity to use a very good system in Georgia, if I am not mistaken, where they could actually hear themselves clearly. I believe the maker of the equipment refused their offer to buy or rent the system. But of course one fluke night of good sound doesn't disprove your point. Even in 1967 when The Byrds were checking out the sound system for the Monterey Festival David Crosby was blown away by the quality of the sound system which indicates that most of the systems they were playing through at bigger venues were still garbage at that time. This set up was a slight improvement over some of the earlier ones in that they were using double microphones and there seemed to be more speaker cabinets but as you mentioned that only helps so much if you don't have front monitors bringing the sound back in the performer's direction. And these recordings in no way indicate how much audience volume they were contending with and how little of their own sound they could hear.

My god they were so good at this point. This is one of the most important pieces of media ever. Live footage of them just before they quit performing is such a treat. They didn’t even perform stuff from revolver because it was so hard to replicate it on stage. Just playing nowhere man alone is really hard because the vocal harmonies are so intricate. It’s such a treat to hear them do nowhere man live though. It’s haunting how it really makes you feel like you’re hearing something lost in time. They absolutely perfected their live playing by 1966. Probably the greatest concert footage I’ve ever seen just for the prestige of it being the Beatles in their absolute heyday of performing. I can’t even put into words how it feels watching and listening to this. It’s like a time capsule where you peer into what the vibe was like all the way back in 1966. Makes me grateful for being a fan of music and rock n’ roll. So profoundly nostalgic. Even though everyone respects the Beatles, I don’t think we are fully aware of how grateful just this 15 minute video even exists. It’s just too good.
