The one and only time I ever walked across that Abbey Road crossing was about 20 years ago, and I was going to do a service call at a job just round the corner. I walked across the crossing with my big toolbox and I felt vindicated that I have never had to do the 'touristy' walk across. I was actually walking over it for an actual purpose! It was a great feeling though!

27:45 I worked for a travel agent delivering tickets & passports throughout central London. On the day of Ringo's marriage, I told the agency that I needed to set off early, so they sorted out my deliveries earlier than usual. My plan was to sit on my motorbike across from the steps on the other side of Marylebone road, to see Ringo coming down the steps. I sat there for ages. Nothing happened. No Ringo. I can only assume he left via the back, or, maybe I got the time wrong.

Another great video and like a few others have suggested. A nice and relaxing watch too. I've been meaning to devote a day or two for many years to stuff like this. We are pretty lucky London is so full of landmarks. I got around to visiting Karen Carpenter's old home where she sadly died but for me, it was the cover of the Now And Then album that got me visiting that place. You never think you would ever get a chance to visit somewhere so far away but like you, I'm really into the nostalgia of it all. Another wonderful slice of Beatles history. Loved the shots of the station in particular! I remember I used to watch those Beatles films when the BBC used to air them in the mid to late 70s... this was pre VHS video recorders (although my uncle had some JVC model in 1977/78 which I remember cost about £650 or so - over £3000 in today's money) so you only saw them when they aired....
@TudorSmith Жыл бұрын
Ah those old VHS players. A sign of wealth of you had one back in the day. Now probably a treasured heirloom. And as time went by, you could pick them up really cheap. Hmm I wonder if there are any on eBay
@neilloughran4437 Жыл бұрын
@@TudorSmith tbh it was way too expensive for him too... he lived in a council house with his mother... The exact model was probably the JVC HR3000 which was the first VHS in UK I think.. I think Bob Monkhouse was a real pioneer in the UK as he had his own professional video recording equipment at home a long time before anyone else. When he passed away they discovered a whole treasure trove of long deleted programmes. I believe Lenny Henry even managed to find his New Faces debut because of Bob.

So glad I discovered your channel! Quite enjoyable and relaxing. My band and I came to the UK in August of 2017. We did a little Beatles tour and signed the wall outside of Abbey Road. Not many people there at all. It was a late weekday afternoon. We even walked right through the gate and posed on the steps. Our guitar player even walked inside and started chatting up the staff(I was WAY too nervous to go inside). Unfortunately,the street was undergoing construction and it was causing an issue with the crosswalk in that you couldn't get into the position in which the album photo was taken if you wanted to recreate it. I walked across but felt very self conscious and "touristy" doing it.

As yourself, my #1 favorite is Abbey Road, always has been. And as mentioned in the comments in one your other vids, that Sgt. Pepper & Myst'ry Tour are like one album, but in two parts. And then the White LP, followed by Revolver, like goin backwards from Road. Soul, For Sale, Meet, and the least fave, Let it Be, And Submarine. But I had to buy Yesterday & Today and Beatles Again (aka Hey Jude) in order to have particular songs that were left off US releases, or were only issued as singles. (e.g.) Dr. Robert on Yesty & Tdy, I believe was a compilation LP with a couple new, but prerecorded songs. Same as Old Brown Shoe, Madonna and Hey Jules. had to purchase the-I called it Beatles Again. But LP's like that were not considered a "Studio Album" right? Jude was released in 1968? Submarine, I eventually had to get, because it had All you need, All together, Bulldog and Northern songs on it. I heard Martin's film compositions on side B once, but never again.

Fantastic video! I suspect the wooden bench in the church at St Pancras is a replacement. The names on the plaque are clearly alphabetical on first name.

Thank you for the tour, I know just how much walking is involved with these locations! It would be nice to see 3 Saville Road in part 2 (rooftop concert) among numerous other sites. Are you utilising the Beatles London book for ideas? I heard it's a good read.
@TudorSmith3 жыл бұрын
Yep that's on my list for part 2. I foolishly had many locations and thought I'd make all of them in one hit. It wasn't to be as I ran out of time. I've used info from Beatles forums, and basically the internet, and I created a google map of the locations. Link in the description of the video :-)

Great video. My favorite song from the 'Tremeloes' was their cover of the Cat Stevens song "Here Comes My Baby." By the way, "White Album" is my favorite.
@TudorSmith3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know much about their music so I’ll have to check them out. What I failed to mention in my video was that Brian Poole & The Tremolos auditioned the same day as the Beatles and the fact that they were london(ish) based meant that the expenses for “operating” a band would be less. We’ll never know if this was the case, or that the Beatles were under par. Might be that Pete Best was drumming. 🤷🏻♂️

The original take 2 opening lyrics to Hey Jude is "From the heart of the black country When I was a robber in Boston place you gathered round me with your fine embrace"
@TudorSmith3 ай бұрын
I can see why the lyrics were changed! 🤣
@celt673 ай бұрын
@@TudorSmith The 'robber' in question was that electrical "magician" ( can't remember his name ) who briefly made a name for himself by setting himself up as some kind of musical genius who would come to your studio and "improve" all your equipment for a small fee...in actual fact he was a snake-oil salesman whose tinkering made no difference to anything. He was based in Boston Place.

Thank you for this video. As well as being entertaining and informative, it's well filmed and edited with excellent sound. Thanks for going to all that effort. May I ask you what camera you are using? I was surprised to see it seemed to pan left and right with you after you set it down to talk at the Abbey Road location.

Thanks. I’m glad you found it informative. I use my trusty DJI Osmo Pocket (second hand off eBay lol) which shoots 4K and has face tracker functionality. Perfect for moving about and making it look like I have a camera team with me 😊 The sound is only good close up so I record my audio separately on a Zoom H1 and sync the audio and video in post.

Great video Tudor. I don't know when you recorded this but back in August i went with my nephew to a ticketed event at Abbey Road studios which was a tour of all three studios and their control rooms. We had our photo taken on the steps before going in. I believe McCartney still has the house on Cavendish Ave, it would have been great if just as you said " nothing to see hear, let's move along " we saw Macca behind you walking out of his gates HaHa. Which is my favourite Beatles album ? - Revolver or Sgt Pepper or The White Album or Abbey Road or Rubber Soul, depending on what mood I'm in. 😊
@TudorSmith3 жыл бұрын
I recorded it this Sunday just gone. Now you mention all of that it makes sense. Especially as the queue diminished quickly and I didn’t see the people disappear - they were obviously inside 👍 It is also quite difficult to name a favourite album as they are all so excellent so erring on the safe side with a wider selection seems a good idea to me :-) I still vote Abbey Road, and in fact, my favourite all-time song: I Want You (She's so heavy). It's such an immense tune with such great arrangments and I love the jazzy blues bit in the middle. Ringo really holds that drum beat flat to the floor with some excellent fills and fllourishes!
