@RaBob3 жыл бұрын
Watching Rainbows lyrics aren't from I Am A Walrus. They are completely their own... though, yes, Lennon does make reference to similar imagery of I Am A Walrus when he sings: "Standing in my garden waiting for the English sun to come and make me brown so I can be someone." Otherwise, it's quite different... "Instead of Watching Rainbows, I'm gonna make me some." Lennon also sings: "Shoot me!" in Watching Rainbows.... a line he later sings (then has the "me" edited out) in Come Together... but which also was a line from his film "How I Won The War."

Apparently the Beatles had reached the end of their creative energies as a unit; that's what broke up the band, not Linda and/or Yoko!
@aBeatleFan4ever4 жыл бұрын
Yo, Elliot... The last work The Beatles did together was the ABBEY ROAD album!!!! Do you think that album lacked creative energy..???? It is my view that the group never stopped getting better - and Abbey Road is one of the very best albums ever made. Had John not left the group... I believe they would have continued to keep making amazing albums together. Btw... the group ended because John chose to spend every moment with Yoko. He chose to be with her - rather than the group.
@ElliottMichaels564 жыл бұрын
@@aBeatleFan4ever Abbey Road was the Beatles' last gasp as a band, and I agree it was a masterpiece! Perhaps all four of them knew it would be their final go-round and they wanted to go out with a big bang, so they put it all on the line one last time. This point was discussed in the hilariously funny novel "Paperback Writer," in which author Mark Shipper, a very diseased Beatles fanatic, calls this final album "The Beatles Break Up," making sure everyone got the message!
@ElliottMichaels564 жыл бұрын
@Mad Media Allow me to crystallize this point: I indicated they ran out of creative juice AS A BAND, not as individual musicians/artists. Each of the four former Beatles went on to make fine and creative music on his own, but they just didn't want to work together as a unit. Perhaps their individual egos had gotten too big for the room and just couldn't work together anymore. And as for Yoko and Linda causing the demise of the Beatles, I believe Lennon put it succinctly in a famous interview: "How can two women break up four strong men!?"
@aBeatleFan4ever4 жыл бұрын
@@ElliottMichaels56 - This idea that The Beatles made Abbey Road with the intention that it was their last album... is nonsense. None of them knew it would be their last album - with the lone possibility of John (who would quit the group about a month after they finished recording the album). I don't think even Lennon was thinking that this would be their last album - as it was being recorded. His decision to leave the group came after the album had been finished. Paul, George & Ringo certainly did not think it was going to be their last album - while they were recording Abbey Road. Paul was still trying to convince the group to start playing live gigs again in September. George was still talking about keeping the group together in the middle of 1970 (after the "Paul breaks up the Beatles" newspaper stories came out). And Ringo obviously wanted the group to go on.

@@aBeatleFan4ever So they say and so the legend goes. Somehow I doubt all that, but it really doesn't matter what I think. We'll never know what might have happened if the Beatles had stayed together. One very funny but also soul-searching idea of how it might have gone down is written out in the novel "Paperback Writer" by Mark Shipper. I urge all fans of the Beatles to read this book. While the humor may be dated, the idea behind it still has a ring of truth to it. Also here's a sudden thought: What if the Beatles had stayed together and the Rolling Stones had disbanded instead?
