The only audio from the 70s was John's vocal. The rest was newly recorded by Paul, Ringo and the orchestra plus George's guitar part lifted from the 1995 sessions. The only AI used was that to separate John's vocal from piano on the original demo.

The AI was only used to separate John's vocal from his piano part on the original demo. When recording it, he did it all in one take by putting a tape recorder on top of his piano, and just noodled around. Since it wasn't actually mixed, they were unable to use the demo until the AI technology developed to a stage that it could separate it.

its a haunting melody combined with bittersweet lyrics accompanied by nostalgic video imagery. my teen years was spent in the 70s and i turned so many people on to the beatles in the 70s and 80s i lost count. (yes, as early as the 70s the beatles were beginning to be unappreciated and forgotten.) many would thank me later if they ran into me. many people said when john died in 1980 the first thing they thought of WAS ME! like all good things the beatles will eventually fade entirely into history. i just thank my lucky stars i was alive to enjoy the wonderful musical and social phenomenon known as "the beatles." thank you beatles for a lifetime of pleasure, great music, controversy and FUN! you helped make my life worth living.

You knew more than enough to give an honest and heartfelt reaction. I found James' comment about Yoko not being in the video quite interesting. The earlier George & John is from 'outtakes' from their 'Hello, Goodbye' Beatles music video (film) c. 1968. Yeah, YT has it. Peter Jackson just separated them from that performance and placed them in this one.

Most of the younger Beatles clips were outtakes from their Hello Goodbye promo video, around the time Sgt. Pepper came out. The 1995 clips have Paul and George playing guitar on this song and Ringo playing drums on it in 1995. He also recreated the drums in 2022. Paul added his bass and also the slide guitar.

It is sad to me that you can never know them like I do. I was 13 in 1963 and grew with them. They were so much more than any individual song. They were life and culturally changing. I went from a factory working future to being a musician and making it a fulfilling career. You noted an imperfection but you should know that they all felt that perfection stripped away the humanity. They deliberately inserted minute imperfections. It is like hand made furniture and machine made furniture. It is the very subtle imperfections that give the human made products character.

I agree. If people don't know who they are or what was going on, it sort of makes you look ignorant. That's what I don't get? In all fairness, the reason we watch "these two young people" is to see their spontaneous reactions and listen to their comments to what they are viewing and listening to, probably for the first time. We don't expect them to know all of the history that older viewers and reactors would have. The only things they weren't really sure of was the very young photos, which didn't detract at all from their honest reaction Just my opinion. ☮☮ @@astrotherapist

A.I was only used for seperating John Lennon’s vocals from his piano playing as it was too loud and drowning out his vocals and it sounded muffled. The song now and Then is John Lennon’s new music demo not Paul, Ringo’s or George’s. Supposedly it was meant for Paul as he wrote on the cassette ‘For Paul’. Them vocals are real and ALL John’s.

The bits of John and George next to current Paul and Ringo along with John directing the orchestra and the four moving equipment around were all culled from their 1967 video for their song "Hello Goodbye" where at the end they were clowning around. I heard the young lady say that it was cool when Ringo at the drums and a younger Beatle was playing the drum that was young Ringo from that video. Also, after the instrumental in the middle of the song when they show them in red from right to left Ringo, George, Paul and John, that was them from their 1967 video for the song "Penny Lane." Younger generations today don't realize that starting in 1966 they began making promotional videos for their singles that they shipped out around the world. This was long before the advent of MTV in 1981. From film to how they changed technology in the recording studio they were way ahead of their times. Greatest and most influential band in history. Peace ❤

All the video is real. The footage of them dancing and clowning around are outtakes from prior work. They did post-production techniques such as adding shadows so they appear in the same "realm". You'll see that when John has his guitar and pointing - his shadow is on Paul's mic. They also added frames to interpolate between preexisting frames and make the shots last longer. An example is when John is twisting in the composure's lectern. The real footage is just a few twists so its played in forward and reversed and repeated a few times to extend the sequence.

Obviously, John did not write this as a tribute to himself. The last words he ever said to Paul were “think of me now and then” so it is quite possibly a tribute from John to Paul and the other band members of the Beatles.

They worked on the song in 95. Shelved it because Lennon's voice was muddied by the piano. In 2020 Peter Jackson and his team worked on the "Get Back" film and needed to CLEAN UP the dialogue and fix the music that was recorded an a two track MAG recorder. They developed a program called MAL, which is a machine learning software(NOT A.I.) which does just one thing, they taught it to learn what John Paul George & Ringo's voices sound like as well as all their instruments. Then it can separate all those elements onto separate tracks which can then be cleaned up and remixed. Paul then send Peter the cassette demo for Now And Then so John's voice could be isolated away from the piano. Once that was done Giles Martin was given those tracks while Paul & Ringo re-recorded their parts from the 95 sessions and added some new elements along with guitar parts that were saved from George from 95. Giles then wrote an orchestration which was recorded in L.A. at Capitol Records.

I will excuse your very poor review of the song and the video, due to your young age.The worst thing you did was to start dissecting and beginning an autopsy, without doing your homework and research. There was another verse that was not finished by John so Paul left it out.The song was worked on by the other 3 in 1995 but George vetoed the song calling it shit, mainly because of the bad quality and interfearing of other noises in the apartment such as tv,traffic and i thin Sean goofing around. He came back to it now with Ringo because Peter Jackson had the technology to clean John's voice and make it crystal clear. The video of the song is amazing and really does it matter if their are young and old images of the Beatles? You went into,oh this is young John and he is using him with old paul and Ringo and you are not too sure about that and you blabbered on and on about nothing. It's a combination of both the song and the film as a tribute to John and George who are no longer with us and the whole band, because this is the last titbit of them doing a song together and a massive thank you to their fans. The whole work is amazing and get this, its gone straight to the Billboard charts as NUMBER ONE.Its the Beatles 18th number one and that is amazing in itself.Just go over the song and the video and it just might be more clear to you as it has to millions of others. They were the best ever band.Just enjoy the final chapter.
