And what does George do for a follow up? After The Beatles officially break up, he goes off and makes one greatest records ever. All Things Must Pass. So many amazing songs, some dating back to The White Album sessions. But he was the third man on the totem pole so he had to wait for his time to shine.

The Beatles were very exceptional in many ways but their song writing situation was amazing ,In most bands the band is begging for songs from any of them ,In the Beatles with Lennon and Mac George had to push in ,,

This is not quite right. George has slowly been able to build up his self-confidence. Certainly understandable given the competition in the band, he was also still the youngest. But look at 'Let It Be' tapes or movie. George is still quite unsure about the direction his songs will take. John, Paul and Ringo talk to him for days and work on his songs together. In the end, his versions on All Things Must Pass are pretty close to what he had worked out with the other Beatles.

Probably my favourite Beatle's song, which is not easy to say because of the insane amount of brilliant songs they wrote, it's almost like being asked to choose between your children ! But don't forget the role George Martin played in the construction of the recordings, he was often referred to as the '5th Beatle'

So many aspects of this arrangement are worthy of comment. Ringo's drumming, Paul's bass lines, George's vocal and iconic guitar solo. Abbey Road was the signpost for the exit taken by the Beatles. In retrospect, it was the best career move. Nobody will ever accomplish what these four young men did in six years. Ever.

I would argue that they ARE the most influential band in music history. All you have to do is listen to Pop/Rock music BEFORE they hit the scene and what music was like AFTER they hit the scene. Before; Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc. AFTER; virtually any band 1964 and beyond.

First band I ever saw live, The Beatles, 8/19/66 in Memphis, Tennessee. I was 9, my mother took my big sister and me. Huge police presence at the arena because of John's recent statement (taken totally out of context) that The Beatles were bigger than Jesus Christ. Bomb threats that didn't happen, Christian groups burning Beatles albums in the parking lot, KKK in full robes & hoods lined up blocking the entrance. Police did a great job getting us concert goers into the show safely, no one hurt or killed. However... the show made history when someone dropped a cherry bomb firework from the balcony above Ringo, as George was singing "If I Needed Someone." It bounced off Ringo's drums and exploded on the stage behind John, Paul, and George. Amazingly, they finished the song, then were ushered offstage for 45 minutes, came back and finished the show. Also amazingly, none of us fans were evacuated or frightened, though none of us knew what the big boom was. The Beatles acknowledged later that they all thought one of them had been shot, or someone had fired a shot at them. Very sadly prescient, considering what would happen to John 14 years later. They also decided, that night, to finish the tour (10 more shows over the next month) then never tour again, which is exactly what happened. John, in an interview, once said he'd never set foot in Memphis again, and he didn't. Again, sadly, he ultimately didn't have to, as his actual assassin got him in NYC right in front of his own home. I'm sorry the beginning of the end of The Beatles came to fruition in my hometown, but I'll always be grateful I got to see them, all 4 together, live that one time, and for my mother who courageously took her 2 young kids knowing there could be trouble, but knowing how horribly disappointed my sister and I would have been all our lives to miss them as our idols played in person just 5 miles from our house. Here's the concert (audio only) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6G4iH5qo9SEZ9E The cherry bomb explodes at 7:07 and you can clearly hear it. Music history of the most infamous kind, but history nonetheless. As always, love you guys and your reactions.
