In these free video guitar lessons you will learn "Something" by The Beatles. Besides being one of George Harrison's best songs, it is also one of the greatest songs of the entire Beatles catalog.
In my opinion I feel the solo in "Something" is one of the greatest solos ever written. It fits the song so perfectly that you just can't imagine anything being able to top it.
There are some nice chord progressions using 7th chords and some nice muting techniques. And the solo has some really nice 1st finger bends and excellent vibrato. It is an excellent study in playing a highly musical solo that perfectly fits the underlying chords.

I've had my guitar for 2 months now, and I've struggled learning anything. I decided I was going to learn at least one song no matter how hard, but one song I listen to.This video though, helped tremendously and I can play the solo and learned in 2 hours. Thank you for the simple and clear instructions!

Thanks for the lesson. Your positioning, is a much more efficient way to play this solo. I've seen several ways/positions in C to make it sound good, but yours just makes more sense. But strangely enough... I bet George played it even in a much more simplified and subdued way. Probably not moving more than a position or two. Your version has a little more character.

Man, I really like your lessons and i was wondering if you could do some by The Kinks like "You really got me" or "All day and all of the night", please, they're a great band and deserve a lesson ;)

I believe - though I might be wrong that Jimmy Page played the solo on You Really Got Me. I think it's sort of reminiscent of the solo in It's All Over Now by the Stones.

First finger bends quite challenging. Anyone know why it has to be done this way? It's not a fast solo, so those bends could be done with other fingers.

Strangely enough, as good as George is, the solo in this song is Eric Clapton's if I'm not mistaken.

gerry tierney No this one is done by George. Clapton played on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". :)

I though Clapton played on both, but glad it is Harrison, I'm not nearly as fond of "Weeps".

+gerry tierney what a dumb-ass comment ! This is a Beatles' song, composed by George Harrison...Eric Clapton ain't got nothing to do with this song, for Christ sake ! Get your shit together before you write a comment like this.

+BRUCE ALCORIZA dude the only dumb-ass comment here is yours. What you are saying is a shitty argument, as for instance, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a Beatles song composed by George Harrison (just like "Something") however, Clapton plays a lead guitar part. Don´t put people down for not knowing better. ;)
