This video is actually pretty sad when you come to realise that at the point of filming this, the Beatles had grown so far apart that they decided to film their own parts at their own homes rather than come together and record it as a group. We can see the transformation and maturation of the Beatles and the 1960s as a whole, not just George. He failed to criticize unfairly that he had "no room" while just at the end of the Beatles he took off as a composer (and even his November 1970 triple album includes 4 or 5 tracks on each side and a long and uninteresting jam on the last side). The others always made him stand out when he came up with the right songs and he owes a lot to the Beatles. George was rather stingy and self-effacing, unlike his wonderful companions. But I really like your songs.

Dingle Barry uh no. George struggled to get published all along. He got one song per album. After the band split, he had such a backlog of unpublished songs, his solo efforts yielded a double album and many huge hits including Weeps and What is Life. Most Beatle fans recognize that he was underrated until he went solo and collaborated with Wilburys.
@TheMostrandom46 жыл бұрын
Dingle Barry Paul actively kept George's work off of projects. Harrison wrote songs intended for Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour (both projects that were driven by McCartney) that ended up being rejected and later released on Yellow Submarine. McCartney was an absolute monster towards Harrison and, to an extent, Ringo. (Not to mention the ever more strained relationship between Lennon and McCartney...) My personal theory is that McCartney was threatened by Harrison's increasingly brilliant song-writing.

I've been listening to the Analog vs Digital argument for decades. Gawd, can't compare vinyl to digital for sheer delight...er...vinyl is way better. Meaning if it's possible to pack soul into an inanimate recording, it's only possible with analog, digital just misses the mark. I can't explain it, I don't even understand why the difference exists. I can only relate how I feel.

@@glenrosarian2352 thank you Glen, that comment brought back 50 year old suppressed memories for me. I completely blanked out on it till just now. I actually found and listened to the Beatles 45's that my ultra conservative christian parents soundly beat my older brother and sister for possessing. Turns out they were excellent child abusers, but not so good at disposing of the...."harmful" material. I learned how NOT to parent from them. Beat your child because they listen to soul destroying lyrics like "She loves you and you know that can't be bad" and the clear Communist plot to subvert our youth clarion called by such lyrics as " all my lovin", I will send to you, all my lovin', darling I'll be true. Clear evidence of seditious, godless, communist behaviour. Glad that's over... oh wait...what? It's not. Omfg, they are still doing it...in Texas, in Florida...oh no...they are voting in people like my parents in in Italy, Sweden, they are getting closer in France. They're all the same, they profess to want only to save your soul, but their souls are long gone. Sorry for the diatribe, but this is life and it's crazier than most people think.

"George is like the hiding beast in the Beatles. You wake him up, he writes songs like "Here Comes The Sun," "Something", And "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," - The HollyHobs (With my take on the quote)
