That makes two of us 😢. I was dating a gorgeous girl named Arlene Espinosa in 1970 in El Paso Texas. We both attended Bowie High School and this song was being played by all radio stations and I remember walking a "Long and Winding Road" to her house at night to see her since I was only 16 years old at the time and didn't have a car. I regret not staying with her. The sad part is, I don't even know why I stopped seeing her. I hope she's doing well.

I grew up in a glass house in the woods. Our driveway was the long and winding road, a thousand feet of it. I used to run down it, humming this song. I can relate to it on more than one level.

Seems in those days we believed things could only get better & better. The demise of the Beatles seemed to be symbolic of a sort of hope for better things gone awry. This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it because my mom passed away of COPD last year. R.I.P. Mom (1966-2023) 🕊😇 I love you and I hope someday we'll reunite together in Heaven with God, Jesus and all of the loved ones that have passed. My mom had battled through the long and winding road after having to battle with Cerebral Palsy, a Stroke, and COPD and finally the gates of Heaven opened up and let her in. The pain in my heart feels like someone just shattered it into a million pieces. It's how bad it hurts. My mom was my pride and joy as I was to her. The lyrics in this song just hits me.

Beautiful. One of my favorite Beatles songs. I remember one critic saying a song of this type and quality is really only produced by a band after much time together. Similar to Led Zeppelin's "All My Love" in this respect I guess. King Crimson's "Islands", too. Melancholic.
