The White album was a double album because the Beatles had to put out a certain number of records for the EMI contract. That’s why some of the so so songs were included .

Ah I now feel very silly! Thanks for the correction. I always just assumed that Macca was the main guy driving that style that quaint British sensibility I’m not fond of in the group - I have been proved wrong!! Thanks for watching 🙏

@@doodlereview don't feel silly, we all make mistakes! Interesting fact, George Harrison's mother came up with the line "what they need's a damn good whacking "

One of my favourite albums despite having a song or two I full on dislike. So many great songs. I do prefer revolver and rubber soul a bit more but The White Album is one of their strongest.

If you actually owned the album you would know who wrote what

Daaamn! Wrong again! I should have researched - thanks for calling this out. I would have lived the rest of my days assuming Macca was always responsible for that quaint quirky English sensibility the Beatles displayed from time to time - thanks for setting me straight on that!

@@doodlereview I only know as it’s my favourite Beatles song (I know it’s an odd choice!) Check out the story behind it, it’s an interesting and fun one! Loved the video, feel like you summed the album up really well 👍 thanks

@@doodlereview perceptions are often wrong. For example you also have the whole 'McCarney's music was polished and sweet, Lennon's was raw and emotional' idea that's perpetuated in pop culture. In reality it was more complicated; this was sometimes true, but very often false. For example, it was Lennon who wanted to work with Phil Spectre (and his lavish string arrangements) on Let It Be, a decision McCartney despised. Lennon would go on to employ Spectre on his solo records, while McCartney's debut is possibly the most lo-fi ex-Beatle release. My personal perception is that McCartney generally had possibly a wider range of stylistic interests in general, ranging from sweet (Martha My Dear) to aggressive (Helter Skelter) to humorous (Why Don't We Do It In The Road?) and so on.
