Nice list. Being a human bean with a point of view, I have a couple different rankings, but the songs are some the best phys-delic in the Bea-attles discography. Thank you,Larry

Good list. My favourite is I am the Walrus. I would add Baby You’re a Rich Man….. perhaps even All You Need Is Love.

I'd add the surreal 'Because' to my list.

This was a fun video. The song, "Flying", is one of my all-time favorite songs by The Beatles. I love everything about it. All the instruments, the sing-along, beerstein hoisting vocals, and the tripped out mellotron tape loop ending. I hope not to be crossing a line here, but to prove it, you can see my top 10 fav Beatles' song video to know I'm truthful. If you allow this comment to remain here, I'll shout you out with my 10 Beatles psychedelic song list. Thanks, Larry! ☮️💟

One that's underrated when it comes to THIS category is "Lovely Rita, Meter Maid," especially the ending, of course.

I have been listening to The Beatles for 30+ years, and i never understood Revolution 9. Until recently... And then i just got it. The penny dropped and i now think its quite a listenable song. I quite enjoy it.

Tomorrow Never Knows is my favourite Beatles song & UK 🇬🇧 Post-Punk band The Chameleons do a serviceable cover of it as did Siouxsie & The Banshees with Dear Prudence.

I have no problem with your ranking here, Larry. For me, I would’ve put “it’s all too much” at number one (just because I live it so). I love all the songs on this list. I agree that “flying” is a very underrated song.💁🏻♀️

Some great tracks there in your top 12 Larry, Though Strawberry Fields would be my No 1. During this period I believe that the Fab Four reached a peak, in songwriting, in recording, as musicians and as a creative force. This is precisely what I love about The Beatles, they never stood still, always moving on, always evolving and always ready to experiment. They never made any records to a formula and never sounded the same, each new release was fresh and another journey into new styles and genres. A prime example of that was The White Album. I have to say that I would cite The Word from Rubber Soul as the first indication of a psychedelic song direction, the opening lyrics just say it all. Rain is another track with it's backwards guitar and vocals at the end, very trippy and blew my 13 yr old mind when I first heard it. I do love Flying, it is just a perfect piece of psychedelic instrumental pop, rather like Baby You're A Rich Man with it's throbbing bass line, another contender for my top 12. This whole era in the Beatles history is my favourite. What I call the Rubber Soul/Revolver/ Pepper era. My three go to Beatles albums for sure, when the Fabs followed Alice down the Rabbit hole and ended up in Pepperland... My Top 3.. 3. A Day In The Life. 2 It's All Too Much. 1 Strawberry Fields Forever.

Savoy Truffle or Glass Onion would make my list of best psychedelic Beatles tunes. Glass Onion references so many of their songs in a totally surreal way and sums up psychedelia to me. Savoy Truffle just has a complete psychedelic sound.

Your list is great, and I like it very much. "Flying" is one of my favorites, and I agree it is underrated. Is it true that John, George, and the real Paul visited you in your apartment several days ago during the day?

Pretty solid list for sure... maybe You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) could have been shoe horned in as a bakers dozen? On an unrelated note (but still important)... I dug out and listened to the least liked Beach Boys records of the 70's. I am not sure if you have them or not... but here are my thoughts. 1) L.A. (the light album) the highlight for me on this one which was the reason most hated it was the disco experiment song "Good Timin' ". It was done totally electronic and had a prehistoric sounding drum machine. Most interesting was the use of a vocorder on the singing at times! As a whole, this song was creeping into Giorgio Morderer territory.. awesome! Unfortunately, it didn't go over with the fans who were expecting the same old same old formula. Pity. 2)M.I.U. Album ... from 1978 on Reprise label (strange). This one sounds to me like the early Beach Boys sound, but again interesting, as they seem to be making a sound as if they were making it BEFORE the surf music era. Brilliant if you ask me. As this was 78 and not 62, with all of the new music sounds and changes of that period, it likely sounded dated and uninteresting to the joe music listener of the day. Still... in retrospect... deserved so much more praise than it got then. If you haven't heard these ones, try to hunt them out and listen. I don't think you will be disappointed. Cheers!

I think Only A Northern Song and Flying are very good songs Larry and no I don't consider Revolution #9 a song, there's no melody to it at all and is just John messing around with tapes and A Day In The Life is a phenomenal song and super psychedelic and probably the greatest psychedelic song ever and yes Beatles you turned me on! Bob

Track Revolution #9 is a sound collage and has a lot of melodies. A bit avant-garde but I like it.

Everything's psychedelic when you take LSD so I would include: What A Shame Mary Jane, And Your Bird Can Sing (the Anthology outtake), Eleanor Rigby, Glass Onion, Savoy Truffle, Cry Baby Cry (plus the creepy Can You Take Me Back, before Revolution #9), The Inner Light, Love You To, - I think George had a great feeling for psychedelic music because of who he was hanging with (I don't know who they were - yike!). Flying is a great pick for a psychedelic song. I used to hate it until I started my tripping escapades back in my 20s. It is integral to Magical Mystery Tour for sure. I really enjoy your list. I was like YES all the way through it. Honestly, I used to listen to a lot of Grateful Dead when I was tripping because the 35 minute songs sound like 5 minute songs. Plus their lyrics are out of sight, man. Attics of My Life lyrics are truly amazing. It's such a slow song but the harmonies are the best the Grateful Dead have ever done. The words are very deep and true - not the weird abstract Beatles style of psychedelia. More introspective, if you can dig that, man. I'm sure you've heard it with Glen.

Went to a party once after dropping a full tab .... They put on REVOLVER .... man that was amazing even though I'd heard it thousands of times before. Some guy was trying to hook up speakers to the Hi-Fi amp and there were sparks flying everywhere !

I don't think there is anything particularly psychedelic about Revolution 9. It's just a sound collage isn't it? I would put "She Said She Said" in the list instead.

I find it ironic that both George Harrison and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones abandoned their role as a guitarist to experiment on other instruments. It was some of their best works.
