This is the version I like most, live in Munich in 1966, June 24th, Paul singing the vocals and John accompanying on his guitar. The song is sung by Paul a note higher than the recorded version, which is why I like it (listen to the studio version. I like this live one better). I like the repartee of the group, particularly between Paul and John as they were preparing to start singing. You could see and feel the bond between the two. Amazing. While viewing the video, I couldn't help but reminisce those days, I wasn't a teenager then , I was in grade 2 or 3 (1966), but I saw how the teenagers were having the time of their lives. There was a party in the house of our neighbor, and the lights would be turned off as "sweet" songs were played, to the consternation of the parents. I had not been a fan of the Beatles since, but with this song and this video, they got me hooked, though not all of their songs are to my liking. Thank you. So nice! And yes, the studio recording and record as released had this song in the key of F major. But it seems that in all of the live versions of this song I've seen have the song played in G major, a full note higher than F major. We don't know why: Maybe Pau wanted it to sound brighter, or maybe it was easier to play in G major than F major on the guitars?? Or both? Or something else?

@@mathmusic1490 I think they had the live version a note higher, the key of G, because, you know, when we sing live, we tend to drag and have erratic pace. Do to counter act the drag, they upped the key from F to G to make their singing pleasing. The higher note counteracts the unpalatable drag. I think that's it.

Like Zeppelin who dropped their tuning a semitone lower in their lives shows so Plant won't get tired quickly or Freddie who did Love of my life in A instead of C like the original record. but the beatles used to play 8 hours a night in their Hamburg days, it's not so surprising that they have great stamina

I believe all the talk about them hating each other was a load of BS. Apart from their legal issues with Allan Klein, the obvious fact was by the last album they were all simply tired of being Beatles and wanted to enjoy life a little and spend more time with their families. Yoko didn't break up the Beatles, the Beatles did. And after it was all over with, all 4 of them remained close friends.

@@bolivianprince7326 I think it was of Pauls voice. His chest voice could sing soft to an f4 to fsharp4 but when he hits the G4 his chest voice begins to rasp a little. I think Paul just wanted to enjoy his sing without trying to lift his chest voice in an unusual smooth way for a G4

I agree Macca was the engine, he had the voice to hit the high notes and harmonies which allowed many of those songs to be in the key they are written in and to have the movement within that key. Macca was also still keen when Lennon was 'lost in space' ...it was Macca who tried to keep things going. He may not be as much of the troubled soul that Lennon gave to the band and they were a perfect compliment to each other, but without Macca's melodic style their appeal would've been significantly reduced. Yes, they were all great together, but Macca became the driving force.

I doubt it very much. Elvis was huge in the 50s & Michael Jackson in the 80s. Also completely different types. But I'd have to say the BEATLES were the phenomenon of music & I don't think anyone or a group will surpass them ever.

Yep I agree, Paul doesn’t even open with the correct lyrics on this version. The opening line is “all my troubles seems so far away, now it looks as though there here to stay” not what is sung here. This version is actually longer than the 1965 live version so it wasn’t to shorten the song. UrbanoDR it doesn't have an specific meaning we only now it's a super sad song maybe about his dead mom pretty much , my own interpretation is that fits perfectly in any depressed moment in my life & i see it as depression, Love is life & the she is the you that once lived happy & hopeful but now all your sour troubles looks as they're here to stay suddenly there's a shadow hanging over you not being the man you used to be you believe in yesterday. A "breakup" song nah those are we can work it out" & "you won't see me" people believing that didn't get the deepest & saddest words , when my dear grandma like second mother passed away seemed like if Paul wrote this Lovely masterpiece only for me

Wow how cool is this version!!! I hear two modulations going on half way through… First think I noticed were those two F#,F#’s Paul is singing at the beginning!!!! That is definitely in F Major then…. But as the song progresses midway through at 1:35 oops the tonality shifts a whole step up to G Major… We are now in G Major until 2:14, oops another whole step tonality shift again but this time it’s a whole step down… Which means we’re back to F Major to the end…😂
