The company is actually Lambourne Games (not Landsdowne), now Owzat Games. The Beautiful Games is one of my all time favourites, managing to provide a brilliantly immersive narrative experience while being quick to play.

Thanks, I have corrected the mistake in the title & description. I agree on the game, the concept is quite brilliant.

Great game. It's in my Top 3 sports card and dice games of all-time. It always provides solid, realistic results and matches always have a good amount of drama. Truly an elegant design.

This review actually helped me find your channel. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.I left a comment before which has vanished. No idea why. BTW, I commend you for gaming while you're on business trips instead of wasting your time and money "hanging out" somewhere else. The quality of the clip was OK. Was actually intrigued how good the quality was for the fact that your gaming and holding your smartphone (?) at the same time.

I was also pleasantly surprised at how well the mic on the iPhone worked for that video. It was a bit strange trying to play one-handed, but the end result turned out better than I hoped. I want to do another video or two on The Beautiful Game because I didn't show the "third level" of detail and I thought it might be nice to show how to create your teams for the game too. Thanks again for watching!

@@HexedAndCountered Third Level, yes please. Sounds very interesting. One could also come up wirh some house rules. I saw German player Franz Beckenbauer in the Cosmos line-up. Exceptional player with a unique style in his day and age . Remember seeing him play in person 4 times with his then team (Bayern Munich) played in Berlin against Hertha BSC Berlin . Ages ago.

A little too random for my taste, but thanks for the the look - never seen nor heard of this game before.

Perhaps. The system is a fairly simple one, but I've looked at the math behind it and it's solid. There's no strategy so yes, everything is basically up to the dice rolls. I think with the third layer added, it adds a lot more flavor to the game. I might do a full-blown playthrough with the third layer turned on when I get back home.

What’s the point of rolling the dice to choose what card - ie, roll a 6 and pick the sixth card? I mean if you just shuffle the deck can’t you just pick the top card since they’re random anyway? Saves on a dice roll. You’re always picking or eliminating one card each turn so you go through then whole deck anyway. Just do a random shuffle and pick the top card.

@@brianlaible565 You can't really eliminate the dice roll. Not only does it tell you how many cards to count through (and yes, in theory you could eliminate that part) but it also determines whether it's a half-chance, full-chance, or depending on the layer of the game, other things like injuries, penalties, etc. So you're going to have the dice roll regardless but yes, you could in theory eliminate counting through the deck and just take the top card. I just look it as basically an additional shuffle. Takes a few seconds, so not a big deal for me, but if you'd prefer to play it that way it wouldn't break the game or anything like that.
