Welcome to Korea!. Never hesitate asking a help from Koreans. Even though Koreans are not good at English, Koreans still can communicate with several English vocabularies and are willing to help foreigners. Have a nice trip!

Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁) was mostly destroyed by Japanese army around 1910. The tragedy of Gyeongbokgung Palace was linked to world war II. Japan invaded Korea in 1890 and destroyed Gyeongbokgung Palace. Next, Japan invaded Manchuria in 1931, China in 1937, and finally United States of America in 1941.

08:08 The building seen at this point is called Geunjeongjeon(근정전) whose name means "King must work diligently for the People". This building was used for the important national ceremonies. In contrast to China and Japan, Korea has had its own democratic tradition since the very ancient times.

07:31 This palace is Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁) whose names means "A Great Fortune and Good Luck for all the people". Gyeongbokgung Palace is the palace of Joseon dynasty(조선 왕조 1392-1910), previous Korean Kingdom. One fun fact is that Kings who lived in the Gyeongbokgung Palace, should attend academic seminars twice a day and work diligently for the people. The prince of Korean Kingdom had to study very hard and pass the exam to become a King. The stress of study that prince should endure was so hard that some of princes went mad. Korean Kings were similar to "Philosopher King" described in Plato's 'Republic'.
