Kazakh, Kyrgyzstan Turks used to feed mostly as milk and meat source (still the same) but Azerbaijan Turks and Turkmens used to live with horses, horse was always with people in every part of daily life and until 100 years ago, horses from the first floor of the house and people lived on the second floor! Each individual would have his own horse at home (the tradition still continues) and that individual would be responsible for that horse. For this reason, Akhal-teke and Karabakh horses are considered excellent throughout the world and many horse breeds, including Arabian horses, owe their development to these two horses.

@@mudrose3486 Yes, well I am NOT a horse person, so I wouldnt KNOW that - nor do I claim anywhere in my post/comment that Shadowfax in the MOVIE is an Akhal. What I say is that in my mind (my imagination and not some movie!) Shadowfax a horse that was Gandalf's horse... is akhal. That's how I see it anyway. In the REAL world MOVIE he is Andalusian.

Every horse is an individual, of course, but Akhal-Tekes have (so I have read, I do not have experience with them) fiery, even difficult temperaments. Does not sound like a starter horse, and probably not a suitable child's horse, except older children very well experienced with horses. If you've got the money for an Akhal-Teke, you may have the money for a Caspian. Smaller, better-tempered, from very much the same part of the world (northern Iran), and (IMO) MUCH prettier. (I am not a fan of Akhal-Teke conformation.) Caspians have the reputation for being superb children's mounts. Their coats do not have the striking metallic sheen, however. And they are even rarer than the Akhal-Teke. They are related to Arabians and the Akhal-Teke, and though small, are classified as horses, *not* ponies.

I agree I like the Arabian neck better it at least has a crest its arched but the Akhal teke has what's called ewe neck but other than that I like them about as much as Arabians the Akhal teke is faster and has that metallic sheen coat but the Arabian has better neck and head shape but. I own a breeding pare of purebred Arabians

Those are mostly young/untrained. If you are training them correctly, the neck improves.

@@mitinaart4512 yes probably soviet russia killed also Turkics with Turkic horse also. because Turkic countries have very few population ration to their lands. 8 million Türkmens live in Türkmenistan.Türkmenistan is 488,099 km² land. Kazakistan is 2.725 million km² land. 20 million Kazakhs in Kazakistan. But always independent Türkiye is 783,562 km² land, has 80 million Turks.
