Headline i saw: "Steelers already regretting OC Arthur Smith." My response was that they don't watch the games.

Media need to stop speaking on Steelers 😅 the fans seem to have an better understanding

Fans and most media are dumb and/or lazy. I saw “Fields is just a mobile Pickett.” Shake my head. Add an arm and pocket confidence. Imperfect. Not Pickett.

At the end of the day, the OC is hired to score points. We know averaging 14 points a game won't cut it. I'll leave it there.

As a former Mike linebacker. I love what his offense brings to the table

People say that this offense is exactly the same as last season. This film completely disproves that.

Great analysis, Alex! I didn't realize how often they ran out of the same formation on back-to-back plays.

So this is what a competent Steelers OC looks like...

This makes me think once the penalties get cleaned up we can really put more points on the board.

That split second freezing the linebackers is sooo REFRESHING. I know it might not have made that much of a difference, who knows, but I really wish we could have seen this LAST YEAR to see how Pickett would have done.

as always, a great and educational breakdown. Thanks dude.

Alex. I've some of all 22 and they for sure left a ton of meat on the bone . Fields missed so open receivers and if the RB hit the right hole I think that game would have been a blowout. They have a legit OC . I'm not worried about.

I truly can see the open lanes that present themself when watching the games. I love the RPO options built in to give JF his options and not feel forced to run or stand in and take a sack. Only thing I question is when Tomlin says “we played conservative on the road to not end up in 3rd and long situations”, like okay but you attempt some weird gadget play and lose 10-15 yards every time. How is that better than taking a shot at a TE or slot receiver in the middle on a slant? We have seen so far that JF has read the ILB well and successfully dropped in some passes behind them when they get shifted out of position (well designed plays by Smith)

what a difference between Arthur Smith and Matt Canada. Like day and night
@raymondrak9617 сағат бұрын
The experience of Arthur Smith really shows. Don't think Matt Canada had any real options in his plays other than the next open receiver.
@Unknown-qp9ur6 сағат бұрын
Canada strategy was beat your man. Yes, statistically someone on Defense is out of position at some point in the play. Finding that split second is nota strategy

Big change. Points will have to come, sooner than later, but offense is making strides.

This is a good breakdown. It’s demonstrative of how the offense under Arthur Smith is different than Canada. The problem with Canada was not his playbook, but rather his playcalling and how he schemed plays together. For example, unlike Canada, Arthur Smith attacks the defense in different ways from the same look. Smith uses heavy personnel packages to pass the ball rather than run, which keeps the defense guessing. Above all, I love the emphasis of the QB getting under Center because it heightens the effectiveness of play action pass. That element, moreover, has been missing from the Steelers playbook for years because Ben was infatuated with Shotgun.

Arthur has a great system, it's Field's decisions that holds the team
@crimsonchin89164 сағат бұрын
Not really. Fields decision making hasn’t been too bad. It’s mainly been penalties tbh

Think he's just looking around for someone to try and block. Didn't expect to have that much running room.

The offense is counting too much on the defense. They need to pull their on weight.
