The Beauty of End Grain

Watch as I make a classic White Oak end grain cutting board. This video is not narrated, just sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the shop as I work. End grain is my preferred style of cutting board as they are extremely durable and show fewer knife marks compared to face/edge grain construction. My finishing process does not involve an oil bath as many do rather I saturate the board in a food-safe polyurethane called Wood Bowl Finish by General Finishes. This leaves a permanent water-resistant finish that does not require reconditioning.
