Take a moment to think about the area around your home.
You've seen it countless times and it's become so familiar that you barely give it a second glance.
But what if I told you there's a new level of appreciation waiting to be discovered?
In this video, we'll explore the beauty of film photography.
It's not just about the technicalities - it's about the way film captures the essence of a moment, with all its imperfections and surprises.

Shooting with film is definitely rewarding but developing those shots into perfection is something that I've always wanted to do.....especially in Black and White as a beginner.

I've been shooting film since mid 2021 and now I always have one of my many film cameras with me. I'm at the point where I rarely use my DSLR.

Cool video. I think a lot of the recent popularity in film is the same as the recent popularity in vinyl. Younger generation who only know digital want something physical to hold on to rather a digital file on a phone or computer. Ive been shooting professionally for almost 20 years and own all kinds of cameras. 35mm film, 120 film, instant cameras, point and shoot digitals, DSLR and mirrorless.. IMO, there really is no magic or secret sauce in film photography. I can just as easily take one of my early to mid 00s point and shoot with 4-6 megapixels, like the Canon G2 or Fuji F31fd and get a very filmic look with their rather soft lenses and CCD sensors that were designed to replicate film. I have small memory cards in them too, so neither one can take more than 60 photos which means I think about each shot as well. If I want a true film experience, I grab one of my Instax cameras, which has the added bonus of being medium format as opposed to 35mm and I dont have to get them devoloped. Want to talk about slowing down and thinking about each shot? 10 photos is all you get and with each shot costing around $1 (more for the wide film), you REALLY think about each shot 😃 Its all about shooting what makes you want to go out and take photos, whether thats film or digital.

I find that in a days shoot the 36 exposures is fine, and I enjoy the process of winding and loading new film Film photography is a more patient art, requiring you to slow down and think like a photographer which is wonderful, but if you do, say, wildlife photography it would be difficult to capture the perfect moment in correctly exposed, especially on a whim.

I’ve been shooting film since 1982 , both 35MM and medium format , still use my first camera I brought . Yes must confess I did buy a pentax Kx in 2009 because I was told film was dead and digital was the future lasted all of about 12 months went straight back to my film cameras although I found a use for the Kx as a preview camera along side my medium format cameras saved me wasting frames as I never owned a Polaroid back . There is something about using a manual 35mm manual camera digital cameras can not replicate.

"It reminds me of a time when things were slower" How can anyone who looks no older than 25 know anything about the era of film cameras? They were certainly slower alright. It took ages to get your prints back. They cost a fortune and most were no good. Those of us who lived back then have no interest in returning to outmoded, money-wasting technology. I bet you own a penny farthing rather than a bike with gears and an ergonomic fit, don't you? And none of your pictures were beautiful, not even the overblown yellow-hued digital footage you used for 99% of your video. Sorry to break it to you but whether the truth hurts or not, you need to hear it.

You seem the kind of person who dislikes seeing other people enjoying themselves. Why are you still using a bicycle with gears and pedals? That technology is ancient. Friendly advice: Just throw away your bike and buy an electric moped.

Why shoot film? Easy - Film is far and away FAR superior to anything digital. BUT ... But you will run out of money faster than you believe if you happen to be a VERY active photographer - And who the hell has space to actually STORE all of those negatives, prints, and transparencies? And like I already said, the money factor ...
I did this for 30 days and it improved my photography.
