@@James-ll3jb Obviously they are flawed anti-heroes many of things they do are morally reprehensible. I’m referring of adhering to codes and principles for the sake of being consummate professionals. E.G. Neil McCauley having the discipline to “not getting attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner.”

Because it's really a vibe and not Miami vice. They are working for another department in the movie and because of hurricane most of movie is shot in Caribbean. Just name it something else. And change Jaime and Colin and it's a great flick

Magnificent choice for the final shot. Insider isn't the most obvious choice when a filmo has Heat, Mohicans and Manhunter but Insider is probably his most accomplished work.

I love how Mann (and his DOP) can make the most mundane situation both familiar and visually interesting. I have been a big fan since Heat. The slightly over exposed shot driving through the tunnel always gives me goosebumps.
I dont know why, but the shot of the lens moving across Depp’s shoulders as hes “looking over his shoulders” is something that’s always stuck with me.

My fav director off all time.. Collateral was so influential on me growing up, not only it opened my eyes to what movies can be as in both visually and storytelling, but also it was the first time when i started to notice on filmmaking techniques more seriously.

Michael Mann has been my favorite Director for decades. I find he is something akin to Van Gogh, who believed that colors were more vivid at night. His cinematography is unmatched IMO and he loves to develop characters. Absolutely delicious scenes arranged by him. Can't wait to see Heat 2. Thank you, Michael Mann for so many lovely films!!!

These images define motion pictures in that most of the shots would be breathtaking still photographs, and in motion intensifies the emotions. I particularly enjoy his night photography, sunsets, and water. That song was a wonderful choice for your montage.

Magnificent video with the film director, Rhapsody in blue: Very few directors have portrayed the nocturnal atmosphere of modern cities like Mann, which means that many of his most iconic images tend to have bluish tones and a certain metallic texture that, of course, rhymes with the psychological processes of his characters. Moby's music, thanks to the movie Heat I started following him.

i just watched "the insider" for the first time and man, that is a great movie and my 3rd favorite film by mann so far. the only film left to see is "ferrari" and i will have completed the main filmography of michael mann (not counting his 2 documentary shorts).
