I think the genre of cowboy western is based upon earlier eastern films of the samurai culture. I think this is true, and I think he pays homage to this in his films.

@@jothishprabu8 It is way too violent a film, and deserves almost no respect with regards its intimate portrayal of violence. Who needs to see a man being punched to death? You're far better watching super heroes like James Bond who swing like Tarzan from ridiculous scene to ridiculous scene without so much as a bullet wound from entire mobs of machine gun firing criminal dopes. I mean come on, who doesn't love a government funded thief with an eye for the ladies?

@@L.M1792 his one movie, Fistful of Dollars is based on Yojimbo by director Akira Kurosawa. I love both Leone and Kurosawa movies. Kurosawa also did King Lear and Macbeth set in feudal Japan. While Kurosawa did much with the antihero, Leone brought that character to Westerns. While the antihero showed up rarely, previously the lines between the 'good guy' and the 'bad guy' were very distinct, including the white hat and black hat. We catch glimpses of the antihero in movies like Shane or the Searchers, but Leone perfected it with the "Man with No Name".

Last december until this holiday i felt soo much detached from home EVEN when i AM literally home. It's been rough couple weeks, caused by some family matters, and covid things. Sergio Leone has to be one of the few directors in the world to have never made a bad movie. All 7 of his films are top notch with some true epics. Even the Colossus of Rhodes though not up to scratch of his later 6 films was visually stunning and a great first attempt as a leading director
