@@sameerhafeez7029 I have and I still maintain the same opinion as above. Those directors are all incredible, but they are not better than Spielberg as you suggest.
@gpapa312 жыл бұрын
@@sameerhafeez7029 you just listed some of my favourite directors (but Spike Lee?! 😂). Kurosawa, Ozu, Tarkovsky, Bergman, Fellini, Goddard, Truffaut and Eisenstein are true poets with the camera and their films have more intellectual depth than Spielberg’s. Having said that I would still prefer Spielberg over them because he has achieved something they haven’t. He is an auteur and a blockbuster popcorn filmmaker at the same time. As Coppola once said “Spielberg is the George Gershwin of filmmaking”.He has the ability of making an art house type film and follow it up with a popcorn Hollywood feel good blockbuster. No other filmmaker could do that, at least not that well. Is he as good at art house as Kurosawa, Kubrick or Tarkovsky? Not even close but he is still pretty damn good. Respectfully those guys could never pull of something like Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park or ET or TinTin or Ready Player One etc. I know their fans would say “tHoSe fILmS aRe BeNeAtH tHeM!” Why, because they are not intellectual enough? Still it takes skills to pull off a popcorn flick for the masses and an incredible amount of work to achieve something that will grab the majority of the peoples’s pulse as oppose to a few selective individuals who read Tolstoy before bed, play chess and wear the same underwear for a week. Note: Kubrick is my other favourite director next to Spielberg, for different artistic values that Steven cannot bring to the table. Both of those guys along with Hitchcock and Ford are the cornerstones of modern American cinema.

It's the way Spielberg plays with lighting, angles and scale that makes his shots so beautiful. Lots of wide shots emphasizing the spectacles of what we see in front of us and warm colors that give scenes a comforting, dreamlike feeling. It's mesmerizing.

It was emotional! Only this: emotional. Faced with a monumental director like Spielberg, one is only struck and amazed. His style is unmistakable: the themes, the dynamics of the characters, but above all the story. His filmography is a wide multitude of genres; we pass from the narrative to the historical genre, passing through the sentimental and biographical genres. But to every single film he gives something special, he sees a vision of it that at the end of the film appears to everyone as something unique. A veil of melancholy with an accurate and powerful wonder in the details that pervaded his ideas and that show us the significant and communicative grandeur of the images and the most memorable scenes, collected in this video, are proof of this. Even just one scene impresses you and reduces you to believe that there really exists a concept of inner beauty that must be sought personally and that in the end gives joy to your life, without ever forgetting its inevitable obstacles, but in front of the Spielbergian world there is " representation. and message ", it's up to us to choose to understand what that message is. An enchanting filmography, with a fascinating delight accompanied by the melodies of composer John Williams, his great colleague and friend. Spielberg is simply a cinema enchantment and with this video, Marc, you have made his cinema pure magic!
