@@jackster9775 Hmm, no I am fairly certain that the phantom is anywhere from 15-30 years older depending on the version you're referring to. However, age has never been a factor for me, I always preferred the Phantom as well. I definitely struggled when watching the Phantom of the Opera movie though, because I ADORE Patrick Wilson who played Raoul in that. :) If I misunderstood your comment, apologies.

Yes, but he treats them well, they really seem to like and respect him; he has been abused all his life, he doesn't want any other innocent person to go through what he did. He wouldn't treat people like him badly. In fact, Erik is an example that no person needs to become evil just because that person has suffered. He carried those people in his arms, even if no one else (except Giry) had done that to him before. I know that LNV is not the best story ever, but showing Erik's true face was very interesting; that's why I love him, if he were real, he would indeed be someone incredible

The fatherly pride on Erik's face at 1:42 made me smile, even though I'm not a fan of the story, or the way the characters' personalities were changed. Also, the cautious way Erik reaches for Gustave whenever he takes his hand, along with the gentle, yet proud way he handles him speaks of his wonder and amazement as he realizes that he's the boy's father is really touching. I guess he just got too excited when he removed his mask in the end...
@alexanderwolfsberg
@alexanderwolfsberg Жыл бұрын
I don't think it's fair to say they altered the personality it's been years people change, times change, and times change people It's more fair to say that the characters matured and grew up changed by their experiences and time After all I could see Raoul ending up the way he did by going this way...in a wheel chair lived rotting, having lost everything only to earn enough back to afford a nurse and some status symbols a old man with regret because he treated those he was meant love as a burden and tore them down with him While Christine makes since because she knew even tho he was monstrous in his actions if shed stayed with Erik she could have been happy as she really did love him in the end plus the fact she's now married to a drunken gambler of a man who squandered his fortunes and likely hers, while she is forced to be the only parent to her son yeah I could see her doing all she does And Erik changed by Christine's belief in his inner beauty at the end of the last show made him rethink his life escaping to Conney Island and making a place for people like him where he can try to make life better for all not just him no more hiding in the darkness While the only other girl who had this obsession for Erik as the phantom the daughter of his supporter all be somewhat out of fear the madam of the Paris Opera House, the girl being her daughter probably heard all manner of stories of the lonesome angel in hell dreaming that she could one day meet him and having this childish idea of forbidden romance Only to have this evolve with time and obsession into the vile form of absolute obsessive owner ship over his love which leads her to do what she does out of fury and jealous why can't he love her mentality

@@alexanderwolfsberg While it's no surprise to see Raoul turn out this way (he was a whiny, immature, idiot douchebag that I really wanted to shoot in the novel), I found it pretty hypocritical of Christine to say that she truly did love Erik when she couldn't get away from him fast enough in the novel, or other adaptations so she could be with Raoul. And Madame Giry being cast as a villain when she was the one who saved and protected Erik when he was a boy? It left me scratching my head. This adaptation really ruined the Frederick Forsythe novel it was based off of, BIG TIME.

People like to make fun of him using Gustav's musical talent to identify himself as the father but... Christine supposedly sounded like a dying cat before he taught her how to sing and we all know the Vicomte has no true musical talent. Gustav not only sings but plays the piano and makes songs on a whim. Do you have any idea how hard that is? He also heard songs in his head like the Phantom and likes dark things like him. And then the timeline matches with him being 10.

What bothers me about the lyrics is that in "Beneath a Moonless Sky" the Phantom sings that he was found by Christine the night before she wed Raoul. So if she had sex with Raoul the very next night, how does she KNOW the Phantom is Gustav's father? If the lyrics were changed to "just weeks before you were wed"; then, there would be no doubt or criticism about Gustav being the Phantom's son.

Two things - 1.) The Phantom’s world reminds me of Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way” music video (which, being a song about finding your own beauty and loving yourself for it, really is perfect for the Phantom 🌹). 2.) A mirror to the first musical I noticed is how, in Phantom of the Opera, Christine tears of his mask and he’s horrified that she’d do such a thing. But in Love Never Dies, he willingly takes off his mask in front of Gustave. When the latter is terrified, the Phantom is upset but more understanding about the situation. 🥀 I really don’t care what anyone says, I love this musical! 🥲

@@pannalover326 Eh, I didn't like the music. This was the only song I liked and it strikes me like an off-brand of Phantom's music. Like, what an edgy teen thinks Phantom's music is. Also, unless Christine and the Phantom made love during his Music of the Night number, them having a kid together makes no sense at all. Sure, I can get behind Raoul having feelings of inadequacy since he knows Christine felt strongly for the Phantom's music and he could never measure up in that regard. I could even kind of see Meg going off the rails because she's extremely jealous of Christine's success thanks to the Phantom. She had always shown to be terrified of the Phantom since he killed people but I guess she got over that. It seems like the Phantom got over his disgust for his appearance. Usually self-loathing takes years of dedicated therapy to try and resolve but I'm glad a couple kisses and a hug did it for him despite him still living 10 years in solitude because the world still rejects him. I guess I have an unpopular opinion but I thought the acting was trash and campy. Coupled with the bad music and bad dialogue, I was suffering while trying to watch it for the first time.
