Biggest book I have read is the Count of Monte Cristo. I have read Shogun three times. Love James Clavell. Best wishes and happy reading. I guess you may be a while.

Count of Monte Cristo is a Masterpiece. Amazing classic.

I love the Count of Monte Christopher but I haven’t read it for many years. Thanks so much, I think I will be a while. Happy reading to you too 😊

This was awesome, Debs! Thanks for tagging me 😊 Although he didn't make my stack of big books, I'd like to get to some Vikram Seth at some point next year. Your Norton Anthology of Poetry looks awesome. I like my edition, but I'm also a little jealous of yours! 😄

Ah, the Ulysses six, imprisoned unjustly, forced to read experimental fiction... Maybe I should start a campaign to get them released in time for Christmas? Back in time for Clement C Moore

What a lovely stack of chonkers! I do love a big book, but I don't read as many these days as I used to. Back when I really didn't read that many books each year I'd go for big old tomes all the time, but now I want to read lots of different things I tend to limit my big book consumption so I can fit more books in each month. Though I did manage a couple of thousand-page beasts this year, and I really enjoyed diving into those long and detailed stories. Have fun with your beefcakes! 😂
@RaynorReadsStuff15 күн бұрын
Haha thanks Alex, I read a few chokers this year - War and Peace, Les Mis and Ulysses - so I am hopeful of completing these but I may well get sidetracked like I often do 😂

Well, that was a lot of fun! That's a lot of pages. Thanks for tagging me, Debs. I'll get to work on this. I do not believe I have as many big books planned for the coming year. I guess we'll see....

I was surprised by mine. It makes a change for me to tag you 😂. I’ll look forward to seeing your version 😊

There are some significant doorstops there Debs 🙈 I also have Shogun on my TBR and it is all Olly’s fault 😉

This is my idea of a bookish nightmare 😂 I don't like big books. I may be missing out but I avoid anything over 600 pages. Very fun tag.

That third edition Norton is wonderful, but it’s a book I prefer to dip into occasionally. Reading it straight through is an undertaking. This sounds like a great batch of mammoths. I have confidence you can do it - I’ve heard good things about Vikram Seth’s opus.
@RaynorReadsStuff15 күн бұрын
I think I may dive both the poetry books into six and read a part a month next year. I’ve heard great things about A Suitable Boy too but it’s length is quite intimidating 😊

I love big books! I have some big books planned for next year and I have no business adding more, but I had the nerve to pick up an almost 900 page book at the library yesterday (Kin by Miljenko Jergović). I love that you weighed the books.

The 1200+ pager I never see mentioned in 'A Glastonbury Romance' by John Cowper Powys. I read it because the late Phil Rickman always said it was a major influence on his work. I read it, and enjoyed it, but it dragged. Where other authors would say one thing was like another thing, Powys always listed around half a dozen things it was like. It dragged a bit.
@RaynorReadsStuff15 күн бұрын
I’ve never even heard of it Dave. Maybe that’s one to track down for the future 😊
