Pimping up your kits is definitely the way to go, although we are both not keen on milk stouts. That Simply Kit is such a good base kit. We hope your brew goes the way you want it, let us know the results.

Was in 'The Range' over the weekend and noticed their basic, 1.8kg kit was £20 or thereabouts, so £12 for this is a bargain. Thanks for the review, fellas. Hope all is good👍

Nige here, Yes the Simply range is excellent value for money. I am going to have to explore more of their range. The Beer kits in the Range, are they the old Wilko ones? I know the Range bought the Wilko brand.

Not 100% sure about that...they were branded MYO (make your own) which they were a couple of years ago when I first tried home-brewing so that would have been well before the Wilko demise. Probably a rebadged Muntons kit (just guessing)

True, gotta love the simply. Perfect for easy drinking. I have some Sovereign hop pellets in the fridge left from the Easter which will use in my next basic stout now. Best price I've found is malt millller £10.81 for most of these kits. Have ordered a mixture and a few hops from them to get over the £65 free postage Funnily enough, I often tell my housemate to stop talking if I want some nice head. Sorry, couldn't resist. Happily, nor can my housemate haha. Cant be bitchy about ritchies. They are affordable enough to experiment with too, but perhaps there's enough experimental behaviour in my house... 😁

I forgot to ask, how long did you leave to condition and how much priming sugar per bottle?

I siphoned the fermentor into a second container and primed the whole batch with 100g of brewing sugar before bottling. It was drinkable and tasting good after 2 weeks.
