Hi Jonny, you say beginner I've never played, and I'm very interested. Would I benefit from this having never played, or would I need any foundations at all?. How much does the year blues piano courses cost? I'm only asking as I don't even have a piano yet, so I would be buying one for the first time . Regards Rick.

That St. Louis Blues demo at the end is so inspiring! Gives me something to work towards. Thanks for laying out such a clear path to get there!

This is an excellent introduction to blues piano! Although it is an overview, it is detailed enough to really get someone up and running with blues piano and sounding more professional, not amateurish. Nothing against some of the other guest teachers on this channel, but Jonny you are the very best teacher. I feel I really learn best from your teaching style.

@@PianoWithJonny You’re welcome. Much deserved. You have the rare ability to teach difficult concepts and make them easy to learn and assimilate. I just saw that Sergio Mendes died. IMO, he was a real pioneer and had a unique style. It would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on how to play piano like Sergio Mendes focusing on what he did with Brazil 66. I’m sure you could do him justice.

You're showing everything in C. How would one incorporate the other 11 keys into the practice plan? Would every month's stuff be practiced in all 12 keys from day one?
@PianoWithJonny11 күн бұрын
You can transpose each month's focus once you're comfortable. If you're a member, our Smartsheet transposes the exercises for you to follow!

I really enjoyed this, thank you. My problem has been a lack of consistency e.g. an hour a day of practice for 4 days, followed by sporadic 20 minute sessions, mostly going over what I already know, then nothing for a month, or so, only to be re-enthused and go back to the one hour per day and start the cycle again. I'd love to get stuck into this and do the job properly. I have a couple of questions. My real love is Jazz and I've heard it said that learning the Blues is a good prerequisite. Is this true? I'm going to trial/purchase membership for your courses. Does the 10 lesson challenge contain everything that is in the One Year Practice Plan? Would I be better to jump straight into Jazz courses, or do the Blues first? What sort of time commitment would you recommend, daily, as a minimum and as an ideal? Does that make sense? :) Thanks again.

Blues is a good start to learning jazz! Yes the challenge and the practice plan have same information, the practice plan is just breaking it down into manageable steps. You can do a style track at the same time as piano foundations (Jazz, Blues, Accompaniment) we have several to choose from. I would recommend 30 minutes focused practice per day. HTH!

Please tell me why you put A in the harmonized turns But A isn't in the scale blues. Can you explain me? Please

I don't understand why he plays the blues scale with such an awkward fingering. It's so much easier to play it with 123413.
@AmeeliaK14 күн бұрын
oh I see, it's because of the upper position

Maybe better to call the chords properly. Its a C7, F7, and G7.
