I've learned a lot from you Thomas...thank you!!! I must say though, that first F2ES seems perfect to me. Even though it is a red bar, it closed as a bullish pin bar. Also, it is the 3rd close above the MA, And, the MA was beginning to turn up. Conservative is ok, but that is enough confluence to place risk on for me. Once again though, thank you for your great lessons!

Thank you Thomas. I just stumbled upon your channel and I think your method could be a game changer to me. I would like to explore more on the F2ES (as 3:04), on why it was more of an opportunity to long instead of short (which failed). From your explanation, it is because there was recently a break out of the small down trendline, and also a fake break down of the bottom of the smaller trading range. Is the push above the EMA (+ the fact that the F2ES candle has a long leg)a third reason too? Else I am thinking, what if the smaller trading range doesn't hold as expected, and in fact the recent smaller down trendline should be broader. Then the prices could keep falling lower. Also, where would you place a stop loss (sorry I haven't watched all of your videos)? Thank you Thomas for your time and sharing.
@ThomasWade Жыл бұрын
Hi, the reasons you explained are correct. What can also help you is that we traded up into that sideways structure. The uptrend to the left needed new high. Because of main bullish bias and small range we draw our channels tight rather than wider. SL goes one tick below the signal bar. 1 tick below the bar marked F2ES. With red body.

Thomas, do you recommend an indicator to help better identify the legs. Thank you for the content. Very helpful!
@ThomasWade2 жыл бұрын
It can be useful to help you confirm your count when you are starting out. You should not trade based solely on that indicator but can help you with your count. I don't know about indicator identifying legs. There are lot of indicators for second entries though.
@traderboi26622 жыл бұрын
@@ThomasWade I’ll do a little searching. I saw one called two legged pullback but it was so busy my head was spinning. For an older guy, I need something calm 😂 Thanks for your reply!

Its really interesting how you are trying to eliminate the calculated risk part of trading. However I feel there is a very important learning here. Sticking to a process works in long term, however for scalping, its really a deal breaker. Its not very useful for any entry based on ema and trend line, as the same is in use for a long time and lost its edge. However resistance support is much more interesting, but need to practice for a long time to perfect your entry. Unless you take bad trades 1000 times, its not possible to find an edge to take the best trades. So go on, take trades and learn from your own mistakes.

Hi Thomas, another question for you. How close to the highs/lows does an attempt for a new extreme have to be? I find myself missing 2nd entries because I'm resetting the count when I see a bar or stim that gets close to the highs/lows. Is there anything you look for to know if the attempt was enough to confirm the trend or should I only reset when I see a double bottom/top ?
@ThomasWade2 жыл бұрын
If you talk about resetting the count for second entry then it has to be douple top or bottom to the tick. Or really should be, that is when you can reset the count. If you are talking about short term trendline having an attempt for new extreme then it all comes to key entry points in the way. If the trendline and EMA are holding and you have good second entry, you don't have to wait for new high. Attempt was enough. This is simple explanation. Of course there is context that comes into play.
@GrantLylick2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Thomas. Fairly new to price action trading but the examples of patterns (the SAME patterns) you show that the market takes is def helping to identify HIGH prob entries. I do have some trouble detecting the 2EL/S or Failed. But these videos are really helping. Keep up the great work!

It takes a bit of time to get used to counting entries. You are training your eyes to do something they have never done. Watch pure price action. You should really quickly get the hang of it. You can go through my videos and just look at those mark setups.

can I use this strategy in 1-2-5 minute time frames ??
@ThomasWade Жыл бұрын
Of course. Price action is universal. Those are good timeframes for scalping. The reason why I use tick charts is because they show more details and are a bit more symmetrical it feels.

If the trend is up then we have to look for long trades and if the trend is down then we have to look for short trades? Do we need to follow the trend or trade against the trends (reversals)
@ThomasWade2 жыл бұрын
You don't trade against the trend. You wait for reversal pattern which in this video was the first F2ES I talked about. Downtrend played out and push above EMA, F2ES. If the trend is in play you follow the trend.

Ninjatrader, Tradovate are just 2 of many where u can use tickcharts
@ThomasWade2 жыл бұрын
I use Ninjatrader. But there are multiple other platorms which allow for tick charts. Multicharts, Quantower, Sierra etc. I am not familiar with metatrader, you need to look the chart settings or ask the broker. Tick charts are just different settings of time based charts. So you should find it in settings where you select 1,5 minute charts etc.
