Wow that would be dope. Imagine playing elder scrolls for the first time with zero idea of what the game is abt. A guide like this wouldn't have spoilers but it would show you generally all the skills you should focus on to be good and get all teh loot. I've not played too much samurai showdown as well actually. Shame bc i really loved the original arcade game as a kid

KoF 98' is my all time favorite fighting game of all time and I owe all of my thanks to this ingenious video that broke down most of it's basic systems. I used to play a little of KoF in the arcades, back in the day, but struggled to understand it as it was different from what I was used to (Street Fighter mostly) had no idea that it would become my absolute favorite fighting game series.

I'm not even playing, I was able to win games just by watching the first 8 minutes of this video. Sure, I have experience with other FGs. But, KOF is a different beast. This video is so helpful and expedited my learning process of the game. I'm now playing KOF '02 and KOFXV and I feel MUCH more comfortable and know what to do in this game. I've been playing for just a week now and this is probably one of the best FG experiences ever. There's something about this series tbh. I love SF since it's my first real try-hard FG, 3S specifically. That said, KOF is something else.

+AMVGFan i see where your comin from. At the end of the day,it really all boils down to what your comfortable with.Or in my case,who you have the most fun playing as. Honestly,if it wasnt for the majority of KoF games having team specific endings,i would have Kim in every single team that i made. I honestly love how Kim plays. His moveset is overly complicated,but it is elegant in its simplicity. He's always been my favorite SNK character,and will continue to be. Also, im just glad this guide exists. Its hard enough to get people to play fighting games these days(let alone ones that don't have palette swapped ninja's,tons of gore,have 4th wall breaking mercenaries,pit video game mascots from a single company against each other,etc) and a guide like this helps. Yeah, KoF is technical. Nobody ever said it wasnt. But when you dig past all the different kinds of hops, jumps, character specific combos,DM's and SDM's and the massive character rosters,it really is just a fun fighting game at heart. No more,no less.

I've been playing sf for years, well. I cannot play this game. It destroys me. Edit:literally after watching the videos first tutorial about neutral I started to win arcade matches in garou with Rock. That's when I noticed how significant light to heavy combos are and why the buttons are mapped this way. It feels so different constantly dashing forward and backwards instead of tapping forward constantly for pressure and pokes and then cycling back to a block state. (Like SF.) After watching this video I feel significantly more comfortable with the games as whole because before I was looking at them completely wrong. These games are way more complex than their peers and you made great tutorial for it, and for the first time im really enjoying it. :)

this guide also applies to garou:motw? sorry I'm just a beginner looking for guides
@GG256_4 жыл бұрын
@@ThusSpokeSpooky For sure man. Specials are naturally different as is a lot of characters. (Like Terry has a dragon punch z motion 6+3+2+3+6+k input kick that to my knowledge they either changed or removed for Garou, since I don't use him I assume it's just been changed. And he wears a bomber jacket! Haha) But, neutral and concept wise, absolutely. Dude I'm still a beginner too lmao. There is no Dunning Kreuger in the fgc because we all get the whoopin sometimes lol and constantly learn. The games are really fun though and if you have a knack, or play other fighting games but have always been put off by the difficulties or rhythm of these games, *give KoF a another chance.* I recommend KoF 97, I've been addicted to all of them ever since KoF 97 clicked. The games are all free on gamepass and available on steam and ps as well. Edit: also if you play DBFZ, Master Roshi was just released and he has the KoF hops! They are essential!

+AMVGFan Thanks for clearing that up for me man. As for being proficient with five or more characters, theres quite a few: Kim was the first SNK character i ever played as,and since Fatal Fury 2, I would like to think that ive gotten pretty good as him. Ryo's a good second,but when they took his Zanretsuken and his original Ko'oh Ken away in 96' and 97', it screwed me up bad man. Lin from KoF 00' and 01' is quickly becoming my new favorite simply because of his varied moveset. Plus his ⬇⬇⬇+LP&SP is just... its otherworldly man. Jhun is another character im good at,mainly because of his simple SDM inputs. I like Jhun for his simplicity, save for his different stances. Omega Rugal(Sorry,had to include him mainly because he was the main reason i bought KoF 98) is just a combo beast,especially in 98UM. His ➡↘⬇↙⬅+P quickly followed by his ➡⬇↘+K is poetry in motion. Thats five characters right?
@AMVGFan8 жыл бұрын
Well 5 characters if you plan on playing against players competitively honestly though if your just playing KoF casually via AI or even players just learning 3 is bare minimum to at least not get messed up and have fun what it mainly boils down to is what do you feel comfortable with maybe having 1 good character and 2 decent feels more comfortable to you just take my advice with some salt I'm not telling people how to play I'm just giving some advice that MIGHT be useful not to be the standards of all KoF games.

Is there a place where I can vote this THE most useful and informative video in the gaming genre? A close second would be CAPCOMs interview with the current SF champion. I have been playing fighters since SFII came home and my only experience with SNK was CVSSNK2EO so I've never really played KoF in it's own style. (Four jumps, no strong or foward) and KoFXIII is well.....punishing at the boss level but great online (no latency issues for me so I think it's fixed.) THANK YOU so much!
