Wrestling Bios Presents - The Beginning of D-Generation X
When it comes to factions in the WWE, it's hard to think of anyone who was more groundbreaking than DX. Shawn Michaels and Hunter Hearst Helmsley, friends long before DX made their WWE debut, broke down barriers in the World Wrestling Federation. D-Generation X became popular as HBK and Triple H portrayed cool villains in wrestling, there was nothing at all that was off limits when it came to DX promos and matches.
The story of DX and how it came to be goes all the way back to 1993, the same year that Sean Waltman and Kevin Nash made their way to the WWF. Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon were already in the company, and the 5 men became close friends. In 1995, Triple H made his WWF debut, and the 5 men would become known as The Kliq, a group of backstage buddies who had some stroke with the office. When Nash, Hall and Waltman all left to join WCW, only Hunter and Shawn were left. Once there was an oppurtunity for Shawn Michaels to turn heel in 1997, DX was born. Triple H and Shawn Michaels were able to form a new faction that also consisted of Ravishing Rick Rude and Chyna. The four members of DX would go on to become very entertaining, garnering a huge fan following thanks to the joy DX found in breaking the rules.

I just finished watching every RAW episode that happened from 1996-1997. Rick Rude pretty much did nothing but accompanied DX and stood at the side like a body guard at the time of him being in DX in 1997. He was a terrible body guard, I think it was due to the past injuries suffered in his illustrious career that by this point in his career he was limited to just accompanying dx and held a briefcase and sometimes used it to knock someone out, or threw in a leg or two when Triple H, chyna and Michaels were destroying some wrestler. He didn't even spoke at that time, so no use of his mic skills.

I wish Rick's back was still fine. And he was wrestling in the WWF in 1997. The DX Logo on his trunks ring attire would have been Cool 😎. I stopped watching wrestling in 2000. So I really had no interest in wrestling. When HBK stopped wearing his wrist things. He was never as good as he was from 1992-1998. He had a good run that casket match at the 1998 Royal Rumble and the Hell In A Cell At In Your House. Really messed him up. And as envious jealous cutthroat as Triple H was and still is. I'm sure Paul was glad to get Shawn out of the way.

Everything regarding the Era revolved around him from the rise of Stone Cold, to the reformation of the Hart Foundation, to the Shawn Michaels feud, to the formation of DX, to the Shawn Michaels Undertaker feud, to the Hell in a Cell Match, to the naming of DX, to the Montreal Screwjob, to the creation of the Mr. McMahon character.

@@meteornome2556 Funny enough, the MSG Curtain Call inadvertently was the beginning of a long domino effect that resulted in "Stone Cold" Steve Austin becoming the biggest, hottest force in professional wrestling since Hulk Hogan...possibly even surpassing him in terms of marketability, popularity, pop-culture impact, and the amount of money and fans he brought in for his company. All started at the Curtain Call. HHH was originally slated to win King of the Ring 1996, but after the Curtain Call, that changed as part of his punishment and Stone Cold was booked to win KotR instead. And literally the first thing he did upon winning the tournament was cut the world-famous "Austin 3:16" promo, which strapped the veritable jetpack onto his back and the rest is history....although it might not have been history if it weren't for Shawn Michaels' IRL rivalry with Bret Hart and his primadonna attitude, which directly resulted in him having his epic rivalry with Bret Hart that culminated partially in their epic I Quit/Submission Match at Wrestlemania 13 (in which Austin officially went Face), and later being booked to win the WWF Championship from Michaels at Wrestlemania XIV. Which itself was the catalyst for his legendary feud with Monsieur McMahon, which ITSELF was the foundation for the Attitude Era, and the WWF's biggest boom period since the Rock n Wrestling connection/Hulkamania/Wrestlemania era of the mid-1980s, maybe even surpassing that era!

I watched wrestling religiously from 83/84 to 89. In college my roommates got me back into it just as DX got together in the fall of 97. I remembered Michaels as a Midnight Rocker and then as a Rocker when him and Jannety joined the WWF. I had heard he became World Champ from friends who still followed. Yet, when I started watching it again, I realized how far he had become and how gifted he was as a performer and as a promo cutter. I can say that when I started watching again that DX mainly, as well as the NWO, got me addicted again. Each week I was anxious to see what HBK and Triple H were going to come out and do. I was pissed when we knew HBK was going to lose to Stone Cold and retire after Wrestlemania 14. I was such a fan that I was considering not watching anymore. Thank god I didn't because the new DX grow on me and the attitude era took off to enormous heights. I was also able to witness the height of The Rock, Stone Cold, Mankind and the evolution of Triple H and no longer just the side kick. It truly was a great era. And when I heard HBK was going to come back and wrestle again in 02 I acted like a kid on Christmas morning. Good times, good times.

I met Shawn when he was in the awa. They did a show in my home town in Antioch on our high school field. Earthquake Ferris is from Antioch and a friend if mine. So there was a after party at Earthquakes house i was invited. That night Shawn asked for my phone number. After that i would hook up with him EVERYTIME he would come to San Fransic,Oakland and Sacramento. I stopped going to see him when i found out he was getting married. Its been many years sence ive seen Shawn. But now that he kind back doing shows..im waiting for him to come back to my area.and rhinking about going to see him just to say hi. I love the original DX. I don't mind the HHH lead DX with X-Pac and new age outlaws, but to me DX will always be HBK, HHH, and Chyna (Rude really wasn't to important in that combo in my eyes). I loved DX as heels as well. I wish HBK stayed healthy and we could have seen what HBK and DX would have done after mania 14. I would like to think Shawn and Austin would have had a longer feud.

I disagree. Hhh was overrated in his mic skills against the Rock destroying him and the DX crew as hunter was leader. They were baDass when Shawn Michael's was leading. With hhh leading, they were never taken seriously only for zany antics.

The Original DX I Iiked even though HHH was a irrevelant, mid card rider on Shawn Micheal's coattails yet found his spot when Micheals was leading. HHH was mediocre without Shawn Michaels leading. They were all jobbers when Shawn left. Micheals never had feuded with the Rock so does his mic skills get criticized? Micheals worked along with the Rock when Micheals became commissioner as in the famous Rock promo naming all the champions of WCW making fun of them the night HHH and DX did a unfunny, lame version of the Nation of Domination and The Rock. HHH was pushed as leader when Micheals left yet the Rock slayed HHH every week on RAW in the Attitude Era onward. HHH was overrated as the rest of DX tucked there tails in as the Rock shut them all down when HHH was leading
