I am 52, have a beer belly, and play Sunday league soccer against plumbers and farmers in Kentucky but I have more intensity and desire than all the USMNT team put together so call me up Poch. 😂 I will accept Busch Light beer as payment or some coronas.

Look forward to seeing you in the new job. 7:59 Thank you, Tim Weah. 9:20 It is true that knockout rounds have been tricky for the USMNT, but there are only so many powerful teams out there. Also, because the US is a host, they will be seeded, meaning that we probably won't have one of the monsters in our group, which should help them finish first of their group, and that should help them avoid one of the monsters, at least for the first knockout round. After that, the team would really need to be prepared to knock out one giant, which is possible, but very difficult and far at this point (hopefully Pochettino can help close the gap). 10:07 This is true, but hopefully guys like Pulisic, who know what it's like to compete at a high level, can serve the role of a veteran. 13:23 Mr BJ! 13:47 They do run a lot, but there were tactics involved as well in how they pressed and how their players moved to be in position to initiate the attack. Canadian pundits asked themselves how the USMNT did not know that this was coming when they had seen how Canada has been playing under Jesse Marsch. They were ill prepared to withstand the Canadian press. Regardless, this era has come to a close, and a new one is beginning, hopefully a very good one.

I do hope they keep you a part of It's Called Soccer in some way even if just bringing you in for occasional commentary and perspective. Purely wishful thinking, but would be nice if they did a symbolic hand-off or payed homage to you on the first episode. All the best - you're one of my favorite voices in our niche US soccer online community so I'm glad you plan on being around if even in a sporadic and casual way. If it's not too much to ask, what are you up to professionally in terms of soccer these days? Are you still involved in coaching?
@JakeLandau2 ай бұрын
Appreciate that! I'm taking a bit of time away from soccer as my family grows. My career is as a CFP helping everyday people retire with dignity. Once my children are older I'll probably coach their travel teams and get involved with schools again.

@@JakeLandau That's awesome man. I've got 3 kids too - sometimes miss soccer as an outlet but playing and coaching them and fostering a love for the game at home (if they take to it) feels the most meaningful for me. I love seeing my oldest daughter (just started JV as a freshman) be a much more confident and proficient, technical dribbler than I was growing up; I was either a speed merchant or pass-instead-of-take-on kind of player

Congratulations! The US team lacked grit, leadership, competition and effort since the World Cup.

I love the idea of competition and dropping guys when they don't get the job done. I hope we see a lot more of De la Torre when McKennie is jogging around turning over the ball. If Balogun misses a sitter, yank him from the dang game! It was hard for Greg to fault players for failing in the final third because we were never in the final third! We have no idea who our most clinical finisher is (it's Pepi) because we haven't been able to get in front of goal more than a few times per match for years!

If POCHETTINO, and this is a HUGE if, is able to turn this USMNT around I think we could legitimately consider him as a TRULY GREAT coach. We've all heard what Her., Charlie, Donovan Mo Ego and Dempsey talk about the lack of grit and pride this team has. This team has quality and the possibility of being a really good team. But their attitudes have made this team embarrassing and so not fun to watch. I pray Poch comes in and really shake things up. These entitled Brats (yes brats) need to wake the you know what up. Maybe if the more experienced, older guys thought they'd lose their positions or at least starting spots attitudes might change. Sadly I feel like our best guys are even showing this lack of grit and poor attitudes is overflowing even into their club teams. It's so frustrating and sad.

I think tha Pochetino is not the best choice for USMNT, because he doesn't know anything about US football and he is just a mediocre coach overall, I hope time proves me wrong but I don't think he is the right man for it.

Assuming you were compensated by Neville and his people. So well done on that. But also, he sucks as media personality. And Mikey Vargas did a terrible job. He knew Canada would press and didn't bother to adjust a thing.

What will Pochettino do? What magic will he do with such a poor playerstock? As far as I understand, you are a coach yourself, so: what should a national team manager who only spends a few weeks a year on his selection do if he has few or worse alternatives? Pochettino had great success as a club coach. And the work there is completely different than at national team level.
@JakeLandau2 ай бұрын
I believe Poch was successful in large part because of his relationships with his players and giving them the right amount of pressure and belief. It does matter, even outside of tactics. A team that fights for each other will get better results than a talented team that doesn't.
@stevenygabbyperez6952 ай бұрын
Why are fans so dumb that they believe that players who have gotten to where they have gotten for being more motivated, self disciplined, talented, and committed are the opposite to the oint that some chubby fans think they have more commitment to winning. We have no coach. That's why we look so bad right now.
