I love being single! I'm 37 and never been married and never had children. I've dated before, but always felt like I wasn't myself. So I love the freedom that comes with singleness. I can pursue my passions and I love my space. Thank You Lord for the gift of singleness you've given me.

People idolize the idea of marriage but don't realize what it really is. It's WORK and each marriage requires different levels of stress and work depending on who you marry. It's not romance and skipping through roses everyday. It's not the costly ceremony and the ring. You better know who you call yourself wanting to marry and be sure you can live with them for life.

Amen! I learned so much from watching this sermon on singleness and how I now see it from a different perspective. Also after reading 1 Corinthians 7:32 where it says “I want you to be free from the concerns of this life, An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him.” That verse of scripture really changed my life and I started crying because of how much time and freedom that I have to serve God and his kingdom. I am 31 years old and have been single all my life and never been in any relationships, in saying that I feel at peace and satisfied with myself while having a continuous relationship with Jesus Christ everyday because he is all that I need in my life.

I have the GIFT of singleness! I live my life unencumbered and free to advance God's kingdom in however He sees fit. I didn't understand my gift initially, but through prayer and seeking God's will in my life, I now realize that it TRUELY IS a gift! This is one JOYFUL Sister that is unashamed and unapologetic for the gift of Singleness. I have learned to ignore the carnal, limited mindsets that tend to lend their own insecurities to my singleness: "Oh, you must be single because of past pain..." or "You're single because you just haven't found the right one yet....". Bless 'em, Lord (lol). God gave me, and other singles like me, this gift because we can be trusted with it.

LC Jones that's exactly what I always say! You never hear single people giving sermons about how "awesome" it is. Overall, we were not put here to be alone but to marry and reproduce. I guess people mean well to help us single people deal but man it gets hard....
@cspann33
@cspann33 7 жыл бұрын
It's very easy to over look the point of the message. The idea of marriage came from God and nothing in the message went against scripture. Now, scripture teaches that both marriage and singleness is good, but it is Paul's opinion that singleness is better. It might just be for some and not for others. Jesus teaches that we must know what our gift is and embrace it. That means if it's marriage, seek him for your spouse. If it's singleness, then enjoy and live life. The Pastor is saying that singles must enjoy their life before marriage, and because marriage is so scared, it's important to ask God for his guidance in choosing or saying yes to the right person for you. There is nothing wrong with that encouragement. It's certainly more empowering than asking the questions "why u still single" or "what's wrong with you" or "you know u not getting any younger" or a host of other demeaning statements.

This word is straight from the Bible, God's word. Being single is a blessing and God gave us this gift because He knows what we can handle. He knows what our priorities and plans for our life and our childrens life looks like. Sometimes it it hard, frustrating , and lonely, but , it's because we forget to seek Him first , to find d Him in the quiet place , to worship Him in the midst of our trials. He will never leave us !!! All the Glory be to Him, may he sanctify and purify our hearts and thoughts, may he restore what was lost when we stopped believing in Him , as we give Glory and Praise to the King all mighty!!! I always wanted to be married , but I truly think it's not the will of God for my life anymore. After watching this sermon I'm so sure of it now. All I have to offer is love, communication, honesty, and trust, but in a marriage you need more. Single life sounds great to me, but ministry sounds even greater!!! I'm using my youngest son's tablet so if his picture pops up its not him responding it's me. If the other person doesn't know Christ, and doesn't want to know Him, it's time to pray, and walk away! You can't change a person only God can, so consider that if you think getting married to change a person, don't waste your time, nor energy. Have an awesome day!!! Honestly, I believe some people were meant to be single because in the Bible it talks about eunuchs. With that said it always kind of frustrated me that a pastor who may have not lived a single life as a Christian is always the one up in the Pulpit talking about how we should. I understand that they mean well but how about you get somebody from your congregation that has actually been single for a period of time not 4 months or 6 months or a year that's easy to do. I've always wanted to get married I'm 40 and still waiting. Mind you I've made plenty of mistakes throughout those years and have fallen off God's path and maybe that's one of the reasons that I'm not married. now I'm just working on being happy in my singleness but it would be nice to have somebody talk about how they've been single for a long time and how they desire marriage but it may not be in God's plan and how they cope with the journey. And just to add I'm not talkin about people who are happy to be single but i am talking about those who desire to marry....

Amen, Amen, & Amen! Was taught this decades ago from my home church, Pastor Myles Monroe, & from my church when I lived in Houston through the singles ministry. One of the books we studied was " One Is A Whole Number ". I love being single & unless a godly man FINDS ME I will remain single. I Cor 7 amp version really breaks it down & Isaiah 54 says the Lord is your husband & you will have more spiritual children than the married wife. Preach Pastor Jenkins ~ PREACH!!!!

Wow! This is the best message I have heard about singleness so far. So many preaches about what to do as a single before finding a partner, getting married ++, but does not focus on what Paul actually wrote and what it says in the Bible. This is so good!

I believe this. When I was with someone I did NOT honor God the way I should. Too many times I put them before my time spending time in pray, studying, and meditation. There were times I didn't go to church because they wanted me to be with them. Being single, I don't have worry about them saying, I spend too much time at church or any place. When I get lonely, I pick up my keys and spend time with me and God, walking in the park or hang with family and friends.I spend and save my money, I can tavel like I WANT TO. Singleness. does have it advantages, it depends on my attitude. As far as sex, yes I said that, I have to ask God to take over my desires daily. If not, I would have been like many empty women, jumping from one man to another., because emptiness leaves you seeking. It's okay to feel , but we can allow our feelings to control our walk with God. 🌹 Love and blessings to all the single Christians. 🌹

This is a good message. But some of y'all on these comments are looking into this too deep. Just because a person is married doesn't mean they can't talk about being single, they were single before they were married so therefore they know what it's like. As a single if it's your hearts desire to be married seek the kingdom of God & all his righteousness & He will give you the desires of your heart. God prepares us while being single & it's a precious time to fully give your all to Him. Stop obsessing over marriage that's idolatry which is a sin. You have to fully be pure and guard your heart from the lust of this world. God won't bless you with a spouse if your still lustful. So stay content and be blessed

If you were married at 20 something then there's not much you can say to people who have been waiting for decades for a spouse. If I'm 40, 50 or 60 and you've been married for 30 years it's kind of difficult to hear "enjoy being single" or "marriage is hard". As he stated not everyone will get married even if that is your desire. And the only person who can tell you why you are still unmarried is Jesus. I say that because people want to list 10 reasons why you may be single (I.e. you idolize marriage so you have to wait). I advise anyone who is wondering to seek God for the answer.

I get the message completely and understand that marriage ≠ happiness; however, it seems a bit condescending at times for married people to tell singles they should be so happy in their singleness. When I hear that my response is if it's so awesome, how come you didn't stay single then? Just being honest.

SOPREC MOYO Both singleness and marriage has pros and cons, but my point is that if the cons are so much, why are you still married or why get married in the first place? You obviously had the desire (just like the single person) to get married, so when you see someone dealing with being single especially for a long period of time, telling that person "just be happy in your singleness" is not what they want to hear.

I think the point is to be fulfilled wherever you find yourself. singleness is a gift because it is a time to grow and experience things that being committed might prevent you from doing. you should be happy in your singleness so you are sure that your desire for a partner/unhappiness with your singleness doesn't cloud your judgement when you eventually pick one because you are already happy.

@Bibi Georgewill Marriage is not for everyone in that it does not suit everyone, even for some who desire it. One key reason why people desire it is because of what they have been conditioned to think.
