Any tips on how I can educate an (older) inlaw on the importance of testing soil for hay, gardening and other ag reasons? Whenever I try to talk to my father in-law about such topics I get told the ext office don't know what we're talking about. He is set in his ways. He informs me "my grandfather and father did it this way so I am doing it this way". He don't test his soil. Just throws Lime at it ea. year. I fear he's wasting money for the wrong soil additive that his fields / cattle really needs. Thank you.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Meaning that if it works for him, just let him be.. No need to add any stress to your relationship with him.. He must really trust you to even have you in his work space 😅
