Im from belgium , and our goverment sucks. Benelux should unite again to 1 country. For real we split from the united kingdom of the netherlands in 1830 as a solution to someone elses problem , then our country splits in 3 we have our politics in flanders , wallonia got their politics , and brussel does his own thing as well . This is not a country to me , it's a mess . I rather call myself dutch instead of belgian.

How do you mean damp weather? We actually had a few minutes of sun today, the wind even died down a bit, we only had about two and a half mm of rain and I'm pretty sure we got to about 15C. And technically it's not even June yet.

I'm from the Netherlands and I see that Luxembourg didn't really come up that much here. I can tell you that as a Dutchman who's dating a French Luxembourger and as one who has been to Luxembourg several times that this makes sense because Belgium's cultural connections are far more with the French, Germans, and Belgians than us. I mean many Luxembourgers study in the Netherlands and many Dutch folks spend their holidays in Luxembourg (as Luxembourgers will have you know), but its a pretty thin relationship culturally speaking. Aside from our Flemish brothers, I would say most Dutch people relate a lot more to the English culturally in many ways, and Dutch people living in the Eastern part of the country often feel a closer connection to West Germans as well. This is all purely anecdotal though but I think that there is a core of truth here (sadly)
@marcusfranconium33923 жыл бұрын
Are you mad dutch have nothing with english culture . their total oposite. Belgium , netherlands and luxembourgh are verry close . always have been dating back 1600 years . all different small states that formed the frankish empire . part of the same influances , lotheraingia , holy roman empire , hapsburg empires bourgoundians . The arch duke of luxembourgh is part of the house of nassau . 17 provinces of the 1600s and 2 treaties that devided them by religon and unified during the kindom of holland and united netherlands. only falling apart due to ineqaulity of representatives from belgium netherlands in parlement. and barely 100 years later united ones more. We have many afiliations with belgium english not one bit.

@@marcusfranconium3392 No the Dutch actually have a lot in common with English people. It’s something that became immediately apparent to me when meeting my Dutch family (I’m English) the closest linguistic cousin to English is West Frisian which is spoken in a region of the Netherlands. Dutch culture is also quite similar to ours as are our Maritime traditions. English people are also descended from Germanic tribes than inhabited Denmark, Northern Germany and the Netherlands. It’s not like English and Dutch people are identical but they’re easily the most similar to us out of any of the Continental nations.

@@janohudran fake .The United Kingdom of the Netherlands (Dutch: Verenigd Koninkrijk der Nederlanden; French: Royaume uni des Pays-Bas) is the unofficial name given to the Kingdom of the Netherlands as it existed between 1815 and 1839. The United Netherlands was created in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars through the fusion of territories that had belonged to the former Dutch Republic, Austrian Netherlands, and Prince-Bishopric of Liège in order to form a buffer state between the major European powers. The polity was a constitutional monarchy, ruled by William I of the House of Orange-Nassau.
