Love to hear the history behind this song. This was my favorite song! The mix was incredible-who wrote & arranged this masterpiece?

Becky, the middle one, sang as Pebbles in the Flintstones. She did the singing voice for LET THE SUN SHINE IN. Her mother Ricky, sang in the song also doing Bamm-Bamm's part.

WOW, does this take me down memory lane. I was 13 years old and had a puppy love back then and his name just happened to be DONNIE, so this song and it's haunting music really made an impact on me. 🎶❤️🎶

Great song and very talented young ladies. The hair styles of the day... well... the hairstyle on the right reminds me of the movie: "MARS ATTACKS"

So thrilled to find hear this song and see the Bermudas. When I was 16, the love of my life was “Donni” and I was thrilled to hear this on the radio in 1964. Am happily married for 47 years to someone completely different, but was so happy to see my Donni some years ago. I searched in vain for years to hear this song again, what beautiful voices. THANK YOU!!

This record made it to #62 nationally. At this time (May of 1964), the top five spots of Billboard's hot 100 were all occupied by The Beatles. As I watch this, I can't help but think to myself that Dick Clark must be fully aware (or at least have an inkling) of the fact that this whole style of writing, production and presentation was on it's very last legs. If this record had been released a year earlier, it would've been considered hip, if not exactly cutting edge. If it had been released only a few months later, it would have instantly disappeared without even bubbling under.

Very true. The Beatles revolution(I wasn't alive when that happened) totally destroyed the '50s/early '60s r&r by emphasizing beat, different note structure, and altered rhythms that '50s-'60s rock had, but was primative to say the least. Plus, the Beatles emphasized originality over all which the rock scene hadn't had since the appearance of Elvis Presley in '56. And, writing their own material certainly helped them as well. 😁

As noted above, on this day in 1964 {May 2nd} the Bermudas performed "Donnie" on the ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Donnie" was at position #86 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, four weeks later it would peak at #62 {for 1 week} and it spent ten weeks on the Top 100... "Donnie" was the trio's only Top 100 record...

Loved this ❤️❤️ song. It's eerie overtones. Found it in an oldies Book in the 90s. Their lip syncing is a little off but who cares. It's a nice song .

A girl group I"ve never heard before, that's a rarity. For some reason, whenever I'd seen the name "The Bermudas" in the past, I never paid much attention because I thought they were likely an instrumental surf group or some such, it never occured to me that this could be the name of a girl group. This was a really cute interview! The song had a nice quality too, mysterious in tone.

They were introduced as Becky, Joanna, and Sheila. However the Whitburn reference book lists the mother Rickie (Page), not Sheila as the 3rd member. Just some info.
