I grew up in a commercial catfish family. We used so many different baits. The strangest was Ivory soap cubes or maybe marshmallows. The most common was freshwater grass shrimp. With a pole most common was chicken livers or gizzards. I have been watching a lot of videos and I see that pan fish work the best. I will be trying these. Thanks for the great videos.

Shrimp is my favorite bait for catfish honestly . I just don't catch monsters with it . But you can sure catch numbers . I use 8/0 or 10/0 circle hooks and big pieces of bait if im targeting 30 plus pound fish . But those baits you mentioned are great baits too

I thought hotdogs and chicken livers were the only options I had for catching some BIG Catfish, but having had the opportunity to try other baits and presentations, I've discovered a world of choices for bait that are either regionally available, or permitted, by state. To each his own, but I still think (in my opinion) that the more it stinks....the better they like it. I've also put some night crawlers in the juice left over from my addiction to Vlassic pickles. It makes them harder to pull off the hook, and gives them a strong scent that will seek out the whisker seekers like in the cartoons, where the scent will grab the characters by the nose and draw them to the pie or whatever it is. Yeah, I still watch cartoons. They're training videos..!. Lol.. Good luck fishing and "Tight Lines " my friend. God bless you and your Family from Badger Five-Five , former U.S Marine Scout Sniper. @@FishinNStuff We have a lot of huge freshwater eels. They eat the same food as catfish so they compete for the food. Some people eat em and say it's wonderful (I'm gonna try it). When I was a kid we sold em to trappers who used them for bait for animals like, fox, mink, Fisher cat and bobcat. Eels pull so hard they'd destroy our rods and reels so we would cut hardwood alders for poles and use green ice fishing line with a 3ft steel leader (they have sharp teeth). We get em on shore and beat em with a club to kill em. A large one would be 30 in long and big around as your wrist. Black with dark blue eyes and white belly with a little yellow. The older they get the more yellow on their belly.

Thanks. This is really good I prefer brim simply because they’re native to wherever you end up using them. White perch are considered invasive, and here in South Carolina, you are discouraged from spreading them around bodies of water. And shad may be a challenge for the casual angler. So, I’d swap your one and two choices. Either way, it’s still a great video. Oh, and when I hear people say, “We were catching bream...” I just smile and say, “I see. ...y’all ain’t from around here, are ya?”

Something else that works good is to buy fresh never frozen chicken liver then place rock salt in a container Thebes layer your liver in alternating salt and liver you can also add garlic or anise or vanilla I hope these help someone good luck .

I can’t legally use any of these baits but chicken. I’m from Minnesota and we don’t have shad or skipjack and we can’t use any panfish for bait that includes crappie, bream, and perch
@FishinNStuff4 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of states that won't let people use pan fish , that's crazy cause trust me the Catfish and bass are eating them lol . White perch are evasive here , they are kind of taking over so they loosened all the rules on them .
@carterpeterson48464 жыл бұрын
Yeahh, the fishing regulations are very strict here, like you can only use bait form a bait shop because it has to be labeled and you can only use rough fish like suckers or drum for bait on the body of water you catch them and you can’t freeze bait you have to use it fresh, and the most annoying law is that you can only use one rod per person, and I just here watching people on KZbin use bait I can’t use but do have in my water and there are using 3,4,5, or even 6+ rods 😂
@FishinNStuff4 жыл бұрын

Fishin N Stuff, next time you catch a good size blue cat. Cut the belly meat out of the fish, cube it up, put it in a container of some sorts. Oh my goodness. My tummy hurts now from laughing so much. I don't know about you fellas so far west you're in de-facto-Kentuckyfornia, but where I fish chicken seems to work better than bream. I've tried em fresh, whole, cut, filleted, you name it, I can't seem to catch anything but channel cats and bullheads with them, but chicken is blue cat candy up there in Kerr Lake. I did find some white perch this past year too and never caught more than one or two from cut white perch. Weird, huh? I never thought of using minced garlic on my chicken, but I use olive oil so maybe that accomplishes the same basic thing?¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, don't forget the strawberry jello! That's the secret ingredient. Maybe that's why it's only #6 on your list, you ain't tried it with the secret ingredient yet!😂😂 I'm kidding sort of, but not really. Did you see BIG C try my recipe? He said it seemed to work better than just chicken breast with olive oil that he'd used and had success with before. Hard to say for sure but I've always believed in the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy. You've heard that one before, ain't you?😂👍💯

Well I'll try your recipe then never hurt to try something new , I know your a big chicken fan . I've caught a lot of fish on chicken too but my biggest fish came off cut bait .
