Nice vid! Regarding the shutter: From what I understand, the issue with the x100__ and the soft shutter is that the larger button can get caught and actually pull on the internals of the mechanism and dislodge/rip it out just a enough. I've read that it's one of the most common issues that the FujiFilm repair center deals with. It usually messes up the half-press function or outright breaks the release altogether. Just an FYI :)
@AlSnoopsReid12 күн бұрын
I too bought the small silver shutter button(personally I prefer the convex version). I have found that it works very well if you use the shutter button to also auto-focus, but if like me, you use BBF I would suggest you use the additional button without the rubber washer as this gives a much more tactile and positive feel to actually taking the shot. If you have already done your focusing with BBF, the soft squishy(?) feeling you get with the washer can be very off-putting and frustrating in my humble opinion. Definitely worth the few £'s/$'s it costs. My tip for anyone who might want to follow my advice and not use the rubber washer is that the extra button can unscrew itself in a pocket or bag, but you can solve this issue by using a tiny amount (and I do mean TINY amount)of low or medium strength thread-lock like Loctite. Btw, and I can't emphasise this too much, PLEASE don't use too much!!

I love the Moment Cinebloom but pity it doesn't work with my Squarehood Mark V. Another accessory that I feel works really well, although is not limited to, the X100 series are the Fuji Instax printers. Every since Zack Arias wrote about it in a blog of his many years ago, I've always just thrown one of the Instax Share printers into my camera bag since it's just great to be able to send a print straight from the camera or your phone and hand it to someone.

if I'm just trying for max DR on jpegs, I'll just stick it at 640. haven't really messed with anything else tbh

Why ISO640 for max DR? Aren’t the Fuji sensors ISO invariant (have I got that right?) so they always shoot base ISO and the apparent increase in ISO is just boosting the output?

Hi Benj. I am curious. Based on this video I bought the Model P Squarehood for my x100V and the WCL-X100ii. I have no problems with it fitting the camera without the WCL. However I attached the hood to the WCL with the tiny set screws and it scratched the lens when I tried to adjust it without loosening those set screws. Are you using something that would prevent this or do you clamp the hood directly onto the lens? Thanks.
@benjhaisch Жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah, I never noticed but it looks like I have a small scratch on the outside of my lens from that as well. I guess you could put some sort of felt or something on the end of the screw to keep it from touching, but I just have used it without really worrying about it. I’ve always just adjusted with the screws.

Puzzled why you would need a variable ND, except for movie shoots. With stills you can shoot electronic shutter up to 1/32,000 sec on all but the VI model, which can shoot 1/180,000sec Combine these with the builtin 4 stop ND filter and no need for anything else. BTW, flash sync goes to 1/4,000sec.

@FC0003 ай бұрын
Wanted to add a note on this, the Haoge LH-X54B comfortably fits a filter within the adapter ring and hood. If you need to remove the filter, you can just unscrew the hood from the adapter, then the filter without needing any tools like the Squarehood version.
@feliperas3 ай бұрын
@@FC000 Imagine having to carry more tools to do a simple filter swap. While I do agree that the Squarehood looks good on the camera, it costs way more and it is way less practical.
