Thanks for the video; I like AI and Path for the long-term play. They have really been bid up the past month, though.

Thank you for the kinds words, but we can do a lot better - the old 10,000 hours theory.

Insightful video, thanks for covering the topic. Working in the electric markets, I come across a lot of AI and ML marketing but haven’t seen it meaningfully materialize. My favorite new phrase I came across this week is self-healing technology. AI across industries is very interesting, but also very vague at times. I like SDGR, I’ve been building a position since March 2021 and look forward to your new video.

Thank you for the feedback! Yes, we've seen the self-healing terminology too. :)

Great video as usual Joe. I am wondering your reason for loving Schrodinger but just liking Abcellera. Based on my own research I felt like Abcellera is the better option but maybe I am missing something.
@Nanalyze Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind comment. It depends on your investment style. We prefer to invest in companies with predictable revenues, which Abcellera doesn't currently have. But that doesn't necessarily make it a bad stock by any means. Here's our recent piece on Abcellera: www.nanalyze.com/2022/03/abcellera-stock-uncertainty/ - Wyatt C.

As Wyatt said, we like more predictable revenue streams. Schrodinger's business model is explained in this video we did: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6S8hKCIl6eoe5I Joe P.

@@Nanalyze Thank you, I will check out the links you provided. And it makes sense about the predictable revenue streams. Personally I don't really mind the lack of predictability in the case of abcellera specifically since they don't have a lot of costs (their collaboration partners pay most of the costs) and they have a lot of cash as the result of their covid drug. I also believe that pandemics will be more frequent in the future. The threat of bioweapons being used as terrorism is also only growing with the declining costs of gene editing. I believe abcellera has shown they can play an important role in case such a situation develops. Of course I understand sticking to your investment strategy. It prevents you from falling into emotional/irrational thinking.

@@jenssweerts50 Well put. It's all a matter of risk tolerance. It's easy to understand the appeal of AbCellera, we just want to see more later stage pipeline advancements.

Just curious, why do you classify C3 as internet of things rather than enterprise AI?
Generative AI. This will be huge in the future imo. It may be a massive help in the creative/ architecture/ designing space & prob more - fabric, fashion, building blue prints, interior design, gaming, filming industry etc.. doesn’t necessarily replace the human but will likely make their jobs so much easier. Instead of starting from scratch, we can just ask AI to generate something for us to fine tune or edit. Imo it may disrupt fashion industry - Instead of choosing premade designs, I can tell AI what I want, what impression or feelings I want to convey or showcase, the colour theme etc, then I will select the designs I like for tailors to make. Probably a lot more creative use cases when this type of AI is accessible & effective

Seems like it will replace a fair number of people. For example, if you have design teams in major corporations, and you're responsible for that P&L, you're going to be trimming and replacing. As they say, these people will move on to "more value added activities."

Have been thinking about exactly this topic combined with lithography stocks, thanks Joe!

Lithography stocks are an interesting niche from back in the nano days. A pick and shovel play on semis, but also perhaps more?

@@Nanalyze I work for ASML so I find learning about the industry for investing purposes exciting also for that reason. With the amount of machines projected to be sold up until 2030 I know the businesses will be doing great, but I don't believe all of the stocks are as much a given as they once were. I will however continue holding my ASML stock both through the share buying program as personal bought stocks due to their exponential growth plans (150 machines this year, 300 next year, 650 the one thereafter). I'm 23 so I'm excited to build a dividend portfolio and then also a riskier tech one where I try to really understand the tech companies beyond just "intel make chips" but truly understand their investors roadmaps.
@AlphavQuebec Жыл бұрын
With that said, have you ever considered ASML stocks Joe? Considering their extensive lead in lithography technology being generations ahead f their competitors. Their export bans to China laid on them by America (currently EUV machines and beyond, likely more to follow based on agreements made last week between Japan, US, and NL governments) shows China's rampant in house development. With that said is it a stock you've ever looked into? their market share and technological lead are undeniable.
@Nanalyze Жыл бұрын
That's great you work for the firm which gives you a unique perspective. People bring up ASML constantly because it's a huge fan stock at Seeking Alpha. No, it's too large to fall within our mandate. Don't overweight yourself in any single one stock no matter how much conviction you have because company specific risk is always something that can blindside you.

We looked at active ETFs managed by algos and they were less than impressive. Passive ETFs would probably do just fine ;)
