@alistairt75444 жыл бұрын
@@johnchestnut5340 Haha you pose an interesting statement. I think that is such a subjective topic of what is deemed "natural" because "natural" means it occurs in nature. I think i'm coming from an anthropocentric view, where us humans are on the top of the hierarchy and anything occurring and created outside the realm of humans, is "natural", such as bird's nest, beaver dams, animal burrows, etc. So in that sense, farmlands are man-made, because humans have manipulated the landscape to cater our needs. A perfect row of corns for miles upon miles, I'd assume, doesn't occur in nature. Same as perfectly lined fruit trees, vegetables patches, etc. In reproduction you have "natural" conception but you also have IVF, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, genetic expression alterations, etc. Despite us humans, being natural and are considered animals too, often times, we draw a line of the definition of what is "natural". Cause I really don't see a massive difference of a bird building a nest and us building a house made of natural materials. Then you have topics of natural/organic farming as opposed to non-organic farming(conventional). Anywho, I think I'm rambling at this point lol

After, the U.S won independence many states started to claim parts of the western territory they got from the British. Due to this, some areas were claimed by multiple states and after much deliberation it was decided that the western territory would be used to form more states and the original states(Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, North and South Carolina, Maryland, and Georgia) gave up their claims on the western territory.

More specifically: New York (founded as New Amsterdam) was Dutch property, Massettchusetts and Virginia were British, and Florida was Spanish property. British people landed and settled Savannah/Charleston after failed Spanish settlements, and each of these settlements were the seed for a new "property". Each of these properties would become their own colony, which were headed by royal Dukes and Lords. New York was taken by force from the Dutch and the Duke of York took ownership of it and Jersey. He then seeded current New Jersey to other royals. Under this model, you get a bunch of different and smaller territories. Connecticut and Rhode Island exist because some people wanted to practice a different Christian religion. The further west you go, the more likely the US was involved in its formation. They would buy or fight for a chunk of land and then just make it a big territory. When it became a State, they were too lazy to divide it into smaller chunks.

Just thought I’d let you know, hunting is a very highly regulated ordeal. You can only hunt during designated seasons, different animals have different seasons. Also you need a license to hunt, and permits for different species. There are specific seasons for muzzleloaders, standard rifles, bows, etc.; it’s not just a grab your gun and kill what you want kind of deal. Although, I live in Pennsylvania, so some of the finer details of the hunting restrictions in my state may not apply to each and every other state.
@jmoen45234 жыл бұрын
The license part just depends on the state where I’m from you don’t need a license for the real small game like Rabbits coyotes muskrats beavers and etc. unless you want to sell the hide but the big game you do
@archeverything4 жыл бұрын
J moen It’s real interesting to learn about hunting laws in other states. In PA, I’d bet we’re on the stricter side when looking at the nation as a whole. I know that at one point in history PA hunted white-tail deer into extinction and had to get new ones from West Virginia, i believe, to repopulate our population of them. That and the number of people that hunt nowadays over here is really dying down (more doe permits for me though😂).
@thejestor93784 жыл бұрын
For most states, those species that are considered pests don’t usually require a license nor have a hunting season, and are just open game usually. Here in georgia, this includes the more common dove species, squirrels, boars, rats, and other similar species, provided they are on your land apart from the boar, which is just a full on pest in the south due to destruction of farms, land, and endangerment to other critters. We require a fishing or hunting license for the likes of gator and give out tags for them based on a county by county raffle system in the fall. We have alot of hunting here, and it’s regulated nicely to ensure we don’t over hunt the critters.

I know I’m a bit late, but I actually live in Delaware! We’re actually the second smallest state (land wise), and it is true that businesses love registering here. However, it is actually a well populated state and several beautiful beaches (during the Summer, we get swamped with out of state drivers), we host Firefly which is a HUGE music festival, and we also have a racing track nicknamed the Monster Mile. And because of us being a tax haven, Wilmington is a huge city (compared to other cities in the state) with plenty of big and small businesses. And we actually have a quite large amount of Amish who live here too. Though most people I know want to move to the more popular states, there’s a lot to like, if you know where to go (it is also really close to a lot of popular cities, Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, etc). So you guys obviously never heard the expression “The 60s died and were buried at Kent State.” There was a halfway decent TV movie made about the subject back in the 80s, which chronicles the buildup of tensions and the lives of the four individuals that got killed, it’s worth watching if it’s possible to find

ActuallyCPOS I have been researching the Kent state shooting for multiple years as it is very near and dear to my heart and the build up was that Nixon sent troops into Cambodia witch escalated the war so student rioted and protested for a few days befor the shooting but the day of the shooting Ohio’s governor banned protest but students still protested and in panic national guards shot at them they panicked because there own teargas was used against them and som student were throwing sticks and stones.

"What is the reason behind the northern states being so small" A few reasons. One being that the east coast was where people from Europe first settled, and as such they set property lines as they developed into the US, and there was a lot of conflict between different countries over the boundaries at the start-- as well as conflict between settlers of different religions (usually different forms of Christianity with eachother). This made them smaller on first settlement. The second is that there were many border disputes (at least in the New England region) that made the property lines change a lot throughout history. A good example is Rhode Island, which once had a lot more territory due to the founder working out deals with the Natives--- but over time Massachusetts and Connecticut would absorb land from R.I. Another is Maine, which used to be considered part of Massachusetts. Also yes, R.I. is the smallest- even if you take all of Hawaii's islands and combine them, R.I. is still smaller. And yeah the roads in R.I. are terrible. There was construction on a bridge near my childhood home for my entire time in high-school... then they finished it and it IMMEDIATELY started to collapse again. The industrial accidents one is kind of funny because R.I. is filled with old industrial mills from 1800s/early 1900s

As an Oregonian I can confirm that yes we are good at everything. I’ve been to many many states and lived in several and Oregon is by far my favorite. It’s beautiful, the people are nice, Oregon just in general has a good vibe about it.
