@1:20 This art card depicts the final moments of one of the most important and iconic battles in the history of the Lands Between and was the final conflict marking the end of the Shattering War, a great conflict where the demigod children of the Golden Lineage (as well as many unrelated to said heritage) lost themselves to the mad taint of the Great Runes which each sought out and warred amongst themselves over; each in their own desperate bid to take the vacant throne of the Elden Lord for themselves and succeed Lord Radagon in his and Queen Marika's absence. The battle shown here is between Malenia, Blade of Miquella and General Radahn the Starscourge, and takes place in the Caelid Wilds, long before it became the wasteland wholly infested and transformed by the Scarlet Rot which we visit it in-game as the Tarnished, and this battle is actually WHY it became this way. The power of these two step-sibling demigods is hard to put into words properly. Let me put this into perspective with a little hype-training for these two badasses: Malenia was one of if not _the_ greatest warriors to have ever existed, a claim she more than earned having never known defeat in her time. Though arguably this was because by this point in history, Godfrey had been already been Tarnished and exiled from the Lands Between. Starscourge Radahn was probably the only living demigod capable of matching the might of Malenia, not only in martial prowess but in his skill with Gravity magics, of which his command was totally unparalleled (not even the Alabastor Lords could hold a candle to him!) The title "Starscourge" comes from the fact that he halted the movements of the fucking constellations! This in turn froze in time the fates of those whose fates are intertwined with the movement of the stars, and he seems to have effortlessly maintained this hold over the stars even while battling Malenia to a standstill. More impressive still is that even after the conclusion of the battle depicted here and up to the very day we confront him - which is believed to be a span of several thousand years if GRRM is to be believed - he still held the movement of the stars captive. That's literally thousands of years of his brain being melted by Scarlet Rot, and he still didn't relinquish his grip on the seemingly billions of stars in the sky! This is unbelievably impressive. So back to the battle depicted on the art card! Radahn met Malenia's match in this battle, and in her desperation she relinquished her pride and control over the Rot Goddess within her, and intentionally allowed her own blade to sever the Unalloyed Gold Needle (crafted for her by her twin brother Miquella) which to that point had kept the curse from completely consuming her. In doing so, Malenia allowed herself to bloom as the Rot Goddess (for the 1st or 2nd time is a point of highly contested debate within the lore community). This had absolutely catastrophic and far-reaching consequences as in doing so she simultaneously introduced Scarlet Rot to the Caelid Wilds and directly infected General Radahn with it; the Scarlet Rot being to blame for why when we find the Starscourge in-game, he is little more than a husk of the mighty demigod General he once was. Literal millenia of Scarlet Rot consuming his mind having left him not much more than a pitiable and hulking mindless beast, indiscriminately consuming the carcasses of his allies and enemies alike, suffering in perpetuity until his long-awaited but honorable end in battle at the ends of a warrior brave and capable enough of finally dispatching him. Man, I fuckin' love this game so much. So tragic yet so beautiful and moving. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. 😂

Kinda disappointed of these artbooks, a lot of white around the images, seems like a poor/lazy work like "well, these are the images, print them in order with auto-fit"

I recevied my copies from Amazon and haven't unwrapped them. I have seen many negative reviews. Still deciding on whether I should return them.

This is like every video game art compendium ever. It's not actually even exclusive to video games. It's just how art compendiums usually are. Can't put this on these one's specifically.

@@Draco262 Open them. They are incredible. People just don't understand what art compendiums typically look like. This a reason the title of this video mentions it being one of the best or the best vg art book he owns.

The art is good but the formatting of these art-books are ATROCIOUS 😭 the way so many of the images are split up by the seams really unevenly like the had zero regard for the actually page measurements and just slapped the image on them
