Thanks for the feature!!! I've never liked the "I can't draw" and "my art sucks" comments I kept getting from aspiring artists seeking advice. Getting better is often as simple as forging ahead with a willingness to improve, even if it involves banging your head against the wall at times. Improvement comes SO fast, we just don't see it that way in the moment.

I used to be a furry artist only because I couldn't draw people. I now draw people more than animals and it's a really fun challenge to draw my furry characters as people! I recently redrew one of my first human characters and the difference is insane.

LOVE that sketchbook tip! I've seen someone mention it somewhere. Some beginner artists fear creating something they don't like in their sketchbook, so the pressure makes them lose motivation. But they shouldn't really be that scared, it's THEIR sketchbook. Who cares if all the pages are total abominations. As long as they enjoyed doing it, I think that's all that matters

I have 5 sketchbooks. 1 is watercolor studies, 1 oil studies, 1 mixed media experimentation, 1 is my carry round (doubles as my journal and planner but also filled with ideas and doodles for social media & projects, beat to heck but small enough to fit in any bag as well as comfy in my hand) and finally 1 on my nightstand for those strokes of ideas as I'm falling asleep. Sounds silly but I found making space and a place for my art gives my mind more freedom and permission to make.

I'm by no means an art baby, but ever since I finished art school a few years back and stopped carrying a sketchbook (or going outside) I've been feeling that I lost a certain experimental quality I had. and that's not to say i stopped drawing or developing as an artist, I draw a LOT if not even more than during school, but it's like I developed this routine that is comfortable and efficient that I always follow. after binging *a lot* of your videos I've been feeling an itch to try things i'm not used to again just for fun, and I'm thankful for that!

Anyone who says "Your art is good because of the expensive art supplies" 1 it's false, and 2 that's really hurtful to say, I've dedicated almost 11-12 Years to art and to get better, so to say it's because of the supplies is just belittling how much time I sacrificed to get good at drawing

Ok- so through this I had an epiphany when I saw the Rapunzel sketch, hair is less complicated to draw if I use light sketch marks in a way & don’t try to make a forehead line or something. The amount of struggling I’ve come through cuz hair was hard to get right cuz I couldn’t remember how I drew before & lost all my art….now it’s time to look at more hands & other stuff & continue to try to find a style that works with me & remember what I lost after 6-7 years of not drawing or doing art. Edit: was doodling cuz I was bored I like to multitask, i doodled with the way I mentioned & it looks exactly how i was trying to get it for so long, since I lost a lot of the techniques I used to use & got one of the many back after a bunch of migraines & this video making me remember some cuz it was similar. So I’m happy. 😃

3:46 I think that this is such an amazing tip, and the fact that yesterday I redrew a drawing from April 2022 and I had developed so much made me realize how trash at art i was then- But seriously, if you don't know what to draw and you have art block, find some of your old pieces and redraw them, if that doesn't help, i don't know what will
@lindseyherbst9444 Жыл бұрын
The last tip reminds me of when I went to a watercolor class thing, and the teacher said that her rule was if she heard you talking bad about your art, she would make you say something bad about the person sitting next to you. And like, the whole point of that was, why would you say something bad about the other person's art? They're doing their best and having fun. So you should extend that same mindset to yourself. Was my painting perfect? Probably not. But I'm happy with it. And I had fun making it.
@WilczycaCzarownica Жыл бұрын
Some people said that you shouldn't redraw your old work, because that didn't help you. But I watched César Córdova video or two videos where he mention why you must redraw your work. He said that you learned on your mistake redrawing your work and it's true. The was a drawing that when I finished I didn't like it and I tried redraw it using tips and it was better with tips and I learned on my mistake. I recently redrawed my silver seel bottle opener from almost ten years and I was surprised how much progress I made. And I will try to redraw most of my old drawings.

I have 1 particular picture in a particular drawing book that I have drawn 5 times, at least? Any time I start a new medium, or change something in my style, or just want to see where I'm at, or how a technique works, I redraw it. I know I love it, and since it's always the same, I can always tell what I do and don't want to keep
