Hello! I got a chance to try one of the popular Malaysian Chinese dishes called “Bak Kut Teh”. Joining me today, is a fellow Korean who also moved to Malaysia and started a youtube channel (link is in the description). Overall, I would rate this a 10/10. Do let me know in the comments if you agree with me on this.

If want to try the first BKT restaurant or traditional BKT, can go Teck Teh BKT restaurant 德地肉骨茶 @ 27, Jalan Stesen 1, just few blocks away from Seng Huat. The founder of Teck Teh 3rd son actually openned the Seng Huat. The soup is thick and no other stuff, purely pork, ribs and soup (thicker than Seng Huat). No chilli, no soya sauce as the founder consider his soup is enough taste already, no need to add other seasoning. The iron chef tv show judge, Mr Chua Lam 蔡澜 (from Hong Kong) actually like Teck Teh a lot.

I would rate it 10/10 as well. Arisa san, just a suggestion, you should try the dry Bak Kut Teh as well? From a different restaurant in klang , the address as below ; Restoran Soon Seng (Bak Kut Teh) L1, 1-40, Jalan Pekan Baru 36, Kawasan 17, 41050 Klang, Selangor. FYI, The dry Bak Kut Teh contain dry squids, it brings out the aroma fragrance of the dish. Another place of suggestion, Restoran Peng Heong Hakka Pai Kut (平香客家排骨) 2, Lorong Gudang Nanas, Kawasan 18, 41300 Klang, Selangor.

Klang bak kut teh can be serious addictive. I haven't eaten from that store for over 10 years now since moving to Singapore where they prefer the white peppery version. Miss the addictiveness. BTW, love you in that dress.

Some bak kut teh are really worth the wait. Btw, it's not always a good idea to combine alcohol with bak kut teh. From folk tale passed down, they said that bak kut teh was "invented" by port workers (they were mainly Chinese). Their working environment is moist and sometimes cold. They also needed substantial physical strength to carry good from/into ships. Minor physical injury is also common working in ports. For those reasons, the meal they cooked has traditional Chinese medicine in it to improve their blood flow and to heal, or to increase body heat. It also has meats in it to provide protein for the body to heal. Sometimes they also put in what they can afford at the time. Intestines, chicken feet etc. Now back to my point, depending on the mix of TCM used in the broth, combination with alcohol might cause too much body heat. There's is a slight chance of this causing nosebleed or other headaches. Generally speaking however, restaurant bak kut teh generally doesn't use this much TCM to make the combination particularly dangerous. If you get the TCM from a local TCM shop and cook it yourself instead, then it's probably best not to pair it with alcohol because the Chinese medicine they put in is more, and therefore more potent.

Put tea leaves into pot. Pour hot water into pot 3/4, pour off water from pot to the cup bucket. This way you can rinse the tea leaves & disinfectant those cup. Now you can pour hot water to pot to sip tea, after 3-5 mins, serve to tea cup.
